Job summary

MSD located in Dunboyne, Co. Meath, seeks a Manufacturing Automation Senior Specialist to lead Emerson DeltaV automation across critical manufacturing processes.

You will guide system design, lifecycle management, and continuous improvement within a GMP Biotech environment. You will mentor engineers, drive cross-functional collaborations with Engineering, Operations, Quality, Validation, MES, and Global Tech teams, and ensure compliant, audit-ready automation performance for NPIs and routine

Qualifications

• 7+ years hands-on automation engineering experience with Emerson DeltaV in GMP biotech/pharma environments.
• Experience delivering Tech Transfer, Process Design, and Commissioning/Qualification as Area Lead.
• Strong knowledge of ISA88/S95 batch control design, testing and commissioning.

Responsibilities

• Serve as System Owner for Emerson DeltaV DCS equipment across Upstream, Downstream, and utilities.
• Provide advanced technical support for process control and automation configuration during production.
• Lead RCA, deviations, and troubleshooting of automation systems.
• Lead engineering projects and continuous improvement initiatives aligned with site strategies.
• Support NPIs, tech transfer activities, and clinical validation runs for new products.
• Manage change control processes and automation maintenance scheduling.
• Maintain DeltaV systems in GMP-compliant, audit-ready state for regulatory inspections.
• Identify digital tools to enable paperless manufacturing.
