Job description

Data & Technology Associate - International Law Firm, Dublin

Our client is an international law firm with a significant Dublin presence and a high-profile, global client base. Their Data & Technology team, made up of lawyers across Ireland and the UK, is now looking to hire an Associate to join the Dublin practice.

Key points
  • 2 years PQE preferable (but our client is open to candidates with 18 months gained directly in technology and data work)
  • Working closely with partners and senior lawyers across the Irish and UK offices
  • Broad practice spanning data protection, technology, IP and commercial work
  • Genuine, structured career development within a well-regarded specialist team
The Role

You will advise household-name and international clients on the legal issues sitting at the centre of their businesses: how they use data, how they buy and sell technology, and how they protect their intellectual property. Working as part of a cross-border team, you will get early exposure to high-value, multi-jurisdictional matters and direct client contact, with the support and mentoring to build a long-term practice in this area.

Responsibilities
  • Advise clients on data protection and privacy compliance, including GDPR, data transfers, data breach responses and engagement with regulators
  • Draft, review and negotiate technology agreements, including SaaS, licensing, outsourcing, cloud and IT services contracts
  • Advise on emerging digital regulation affecting technology clients, such as the EU AI Act, NIS2, DORA and the Digital Services Act
  • Draft and negotiate a range of commercial agreements, including distribution, supply, agency and collaboration arrangements
  • Assist on the technology, data and IP aspects of corporate transactions, including due diligence
  • Collaborate with colleagues in the UK and across the firm's wider international network on cross-border matters
  • Contribute to know-how, client briefings and business development initiatives within the team
Requirements
  • Strong drafting and negotiation skills, with attention to detail
  • Commercial awareness and a genuine interest in the technology sector
  • Confident communicator, comfortable working with clients and colleagues across jurisdictions
