Job summary

Byrne Wallace Shields is seeking an Associate to join its Data Protection Corporate team in Dublin. The successful applicant will advise on privacy, GDPR, and commercial contracts, supporting clients with data sharing, data processing agreements, and policy development.

With minimum 3 years’ PQE, you will bring excellent drafting, research, and communication skills, and the ability to work in a team while taking initiative in a fast-paced environment. Training and career progression are provided.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 3 years’ experience with a background in data protection/GDPR experience, regulation, corporate and commercial contracts
• Excellent technical and drafting skills
• Strong legal research and analytical skills
• Strong commercial awareness/business acumen
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work as part of a team
• High level of motivation with the ability to work on own initiative

Responsibilities

• Advise on privacy, data protection, GDPR and commercial contracts
• Draft data sharing and data processing agreements
• Develop data protection policies and procedures
• Address data protection in commercial contracts and transactions
• Prepare online terms and conditions, e-privacy and direct marketing
• Conduct gap analyses and data protection impact assessments
• Monitor developments in data protection and information security
• Provide support to other business units on data protection issues
• Deliver training and support to clients
• Investigate data breaches and carry out remedial work

• Online terms and conditions, e-privacy and direct marketing
• Gap analysis/risk assessment/data protection impact assessments
• Monitoring and responding to developments in data protection and information security
• Providing support to other business units as required on data protection issues
• Providing ongoing training and support to clients
• Investigating data breaches and carrying out remedial work in the aftermath of data breaches

Key skills:
