Job summary

UnitedHealth Group (Optum) is hiring a Data Engineer in Ireland to design, build, and operate data pipelines and analytics solutions. The role focuses on data processing across AI, ML, and BI, integrating with Azure, AWS, and GCP, and ensuring scalable, secure data workloads.

You will collaborate across teams to migrate legacy data, implement real-time data flows, and document architectures and processes. A hybrid work model is offered with offices in Dublin and Letterkenny.

Qualifications

• Proven extensive experience in Data Engineering.
• Proven experience with data processing technologies and SQL databases.
• Advanced SQL proficiency.
• Experience with relational and non-relational databases.
• ETL, data warehousing, modeling in large-scale environments.
• Public cloud experience: Azure, AWS, GCP; Linux environments.
• Experience with Hadoop, Snowflake, Redshift, Synapse or similar.
• Spark/Databricks for data processing and ML workloads.
• Airflow for data pipeline orchestration.

Responsibilities

• Design, build and implement automation for data and BI pipelines.
• Transform data and apply business logic with collaboration partners.
• Develop scalable Big Data solutions with robust documentation.
• Analyze raw data sources and define data models and flows.
• Migrate data from legacy to new systems.
• Define security and backup strategies for data solutions.
• Create real-time/near real-time data pipelines.
• Prototype data monitoring models for pipelines.
