Job summary

Aviva Ireland is seeking a Data Engineer to join our IT team, shaping how data is leveraged across the business and acting as a trusted advocate for data-driven decision making and innovation.

You will design scalable data solutions, strengthen governance and unlock the value of enterprise data assets, collaborating with engineers, scientists and business stakeholders to deliver data solutions that support strategic objectives.

Qualifications

• Significant experience in a data-focused role with strong data architecture, modelling and modern data engineering practices.
• Proven experience designing and implementing ETL/ELT solutions and working with SQL/NoSQL environments.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, able to influence both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Experience applying data governance principles, policies and controls to support data quality, compliance and enterprise-wide standards.
• Knowledge of Snowflake, Collibra, Master Data Management (MDM), data mesh, data lake architectures, AI/ML would be highly desirable.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop and maintain Aviva Ireland's data architecture and ensure data integrity, security and accessibility across the organisation.
• Collaborate with Software Engineers, Data Engineers, Data Scientists, MI specialists and business stakeholders to deliver data solutions supporting strategic objectives.
• Build business cases and technical approaches to maximise data value while balancing operational, regulatory and project requirements.
• Implement and promote robust data governance frameworks ensuring high data quality, security, compliance and stewardship.
• Champion data innovation by raising awareness of emerging technologies including AI and Machine Learning.
