Job summary

Apex Systems in Ireland is seeking a hands-on Data Center Technician to support operations in a large-scale data center environment, focusing on server hardware maintenance and break-fix activities. The role involves upgrading, replacing components, rack and stack, structured cabling, and basic networking support, while adhering to safety and change-management procedures.

You will document maintenance work and collaborate with Operations, Engineering, and Vendor teams to maintain

Qualifications

Experience supporting physical server infrastructure in data centers.
Familiarity with rack-and-stack and cable management best practices.
Understanding of Layer 1 and Layer 2 networking and basic connectivity troubleshooting.
Ability to safely work at height and follow health and safety procedures.

Responsibilities

Perform server and hardware break-fix activities across production environments.
Replace and troubleshoot server components including hard drives, memory modules (RAM), power supplies, motherboards, and server chassis.
Conduct server hardware upgrades and equipment replacements.
Install, remove, and maintain rack-mounted infrastructure.
Perform structured cabling activities and cable management within data halls.
Support basic Layer 1 and Layer 2 network troubleshooting and connectivity validation.
Follow established operational, security, and change management procedures.
Accurately document maintenance activities and asset updates.
Work collaboratively with Data Center Operations, Engineering, and Vendor teams.
Maintain high standards of housekeeping, organization, and safety within the facility.
