Job summary

Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Perform server and hardware break-fix activities across production environments.
  • Replace and troubleshoot server components including hard drives, memory modules (RAM), power supplies, motherboards, and server chassis.
  • Conduct server hardware upgrades and equipment replacements.
  • Install, remove, and maintain rack-mounted infrastructure.
  • Perform structured cabling activities and cable management within data halls.
  • Support basic Layer 1 and Layer 2 network troubleshooting and connectivity validation.
  • Follow established operational, security, and change management procedures.
  • Accurately document maintenance activities and asset updates.
  • Work collaboratively with Data Center Operations, Engineering, and Vendor teams.
  • Maintain high standards of housekeeping, organization, and safety within the facility.

Job description

We are seeking a hands-on Data Center Technician to support operations within a large-scale data center environment. This role is responsible for server hardware maintenance, break-fix activities, hardware deployments, and basic networking support within a highly secure and safety-focused environment. The ideal candidate will be comfortable working directly with physical infrastructure, possess strong troubleshooting skills, and demonstrate a proactive attitude towards maintaining critical data center operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform server and hardware break-fix activities across production environments.
  • Replace and troubleshoot server components including hard drives, memory modules (RAM), power supplies, motherboards, and server chassis.
  • Conduct server hardware upgrades and equipment replacements.
  • Install, remove, and maintain rack-mounted infrastructure.
  • Perform structured cabling activities and cable management within data halls.
  • Support basic Layer 1 and Layer 2 network troubleshooting and assist with connectivity validation.
  • Follow established operational, security, and change management procedures.
  • Accurately document maintenance activities and asset updates.
  • Work collaboratively with Data Center Operations, Engineering, and Vendor teams.

Required Qualifications

  • Experience supporting physical server infrastructure in a data center, enterprise IT, or technical operations environment.
  • Knowledge of server hardware components and replacement procedures.
  • Familiarity with rack-and-stack activities and cable management best practices.
  • Understanding of Layer 1 and Layer 2 networking concepts and the ability to troubleshoot basic connectivity issues.
  • Experience using hand tools and equipment required for hardware installations.
  • Ability to safely work at height using ladders and mobile elevated work platforms (MEWPs) or scissor lifts when required.
  • Strong awareness of health and safety procedures.
  • Excellent attention to detail and adherence to operational processes.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience within a hyperscale or enterprise data center environment.
  • Understanding of server and infrastructure technologies.
  • Knowledge of asset management and ticketing systems.
  • Relevant technical certifications (CompTIA Server+, A+, Network+, or equivalent).
  • Experience working in mission-critical or highly regulated environments.
  • Fast-paced operational data center environment.
  • Regular lifting, moving, and installation of IT equipment.
  • Exposure to secure and controlled facilities with strict access requirement
