Job summary

Vickerstock is seeking a Cost Planner/Estimator in Dublin to join the expanding commercial team. You will support pre-contract QS services across the full project lifecycle from feasibility to cost planning, working with Senior Estimators and designers to ensure budgets are robust and commercially viable.

Ideal candidates will have PQS consultancy or developer experience, strong analytical skills, and proficiency with Buildsoft-Cubit or CostX.

Qualifications

Minimum 3+ years' experience in PQS consultancy or developer environment.
Qualification in Quantity Surveying or Construction Economics.
Proficient in Buildsoft-Cubit or CostX estimating/cost planning software.
Strong Excel and Word skills.

Responsibilities

Assist with the preparation of cost plans from early feasibility through to detailed cost planning.
Support the Senior Estimator in projecting construction costs across development stages.
Attend design team meetings and relay key commercial information to the Senior Cost Planner.
Provide cost and benchmarking data to influence design, layouts and material choices.
Liaise with internal teams to align specifications and budgets with market expectations.
Take-off quantities and assist with Bills of Quantities preparation.
Interpret BoQs to inform project budgets for site teams.
Maintain construction cost databases for future estimates and appraisals.
Support the preparation and submission of Part V applications.
Liaise with external PQS consultants to reflect latest design information in budgets and BoQs.
Attend project meetings and site visits as required.

Location: Dublin Central
The Role
We are working with a leading residential developer on an exciting opportunity for an Estimator to join their growing commercial team in Dublin.
This is an excellent opportunity for a Cost Planner / Estimator with experience within a PQS consultancy or developer environment to develop their career within a high-profile organisation and contribute to major residential developments.
Working closely with the Senior estimator, you will support the delivery of pre-contract quantity surveying services across the full project lifecycle from early feasibility and acquisition through design development and detailed cost planning.
You will play an important role in ensuring construction costs are accurately projected, budgets are robust and design decisions are commercially viable.

You will be responsible for:

Supporting the Senior Estimator in projecting construction costs across different stages of development.
Participating in design team meetings and communicating key commercial information back to the Senior Cost Planner.
Providing cost and benchmarking information to help influence efficient design, layouts, unit types and material selections.
Liaising with internal teams, including sales, to ensure specifications and budgets align with market expectations.
Taking off quantities and assisting with the preparation of Bills of Quantities.
Interpreting BoQs to provide project and site teams with accurate working documents and budgets.
Maintaining and developing construction cost databases to support future cost estimates and financial appraisals.
Supporting the preparation and submission of Part V applications.
Liaising with external PQS consultants to ensure project budgets and BoQs reflect the latest design information.
Attending project meetings and site visits as required.

What you will need

Previous experience within a PQS consultancy or developer environment (at least 3+ years)
A relevant qualification in Quantity Surveying, Construction Economics or a related discipline.
Strong analytical and numerical skills with excellent attention to detail.
Experience with Buildsoft-Cubit, CostX or equivalent estimating/cost planning software.
Strong Microsoft Excel and Word skills.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to manage multiple tasks and work effectively to deadlines.
A methodical and accurate approach to your work.
Ability to work collaboratively with stakeholders at all levels.
Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and take ownership of designated tasks.
A willingness to continue developing your technical knowledge and professional skills.
