Job summary

Rent a Recruiter is seeking an experienced Cost Manager / Cost Engineer to support a major semiconductor and advanced manufacturing programme in Ireland. You will lead cost management, commercial control and project controls across the lifecycle, collaborating with clients, project managers, engineers and procurement.

The role requires proven experience in cost management on large-scale projects, strong analytical and stakeholder skills, and a track record in procurement, tendering and value

Qualifications

  • Proven experience as cost manager/engineer/quantity surveyor or commercial manager.
  • Degree or equivalent in QS, construction economics, cost management, engineering or related field.
  • Strong experience in cost management, forecasting, project controls and commercial reporting.
  • Experience managing change, variations, risk and contractor costs.
  • Experience in procurement, tendering and negotiation.
  • Excellent analytical, communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Experience on large-scale construction or engineering projects.
  • Semiconductor, pharma, data centre, life sciences or advanced manufacturing experience is highly desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Manage project budgets, cost plans, estimates and forecasts.
  • Provide accurate cost reporting and financial analysis to senior stakeholders.
  • Monitor expenditure, commitments, cash flow and forecast outturn costs.
  • Manage project changes, variations, risks and commercial opportunities.
  • Support procurement, tendering, tender analysis and commercial evaluations.
  • Review contractor and supplier valuations, payment applications and cost submissions.
  • Support contract administration and commercial negotiations.
  • Identify opportunities for value engineering and cost optimisation.
  • Provide proactive commercial advice to project and senior management teams.
  • Maintain robust cost control, forecasting and project governance processes.
  • Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams to ensure projects remain within budget and commercial targets.

Job description

We are currently seeking an experienced Cost Manager / Cost Engineer to support the delivery of a major semiconductor and advanced manufacturing programme in Ireland.

The successful candidate will provide comprehensive cost management, commercial control and project controls throughout the project lifecycle, working closely with clients, project managers, engineers, contractors, designers and procurement teams.

Key Responsibilities

Experience & Qualifications

  • Strong experience in cost management, forecasting, project controls and commercial reporting.
  • Experience managing change, variations, risk and contractor costs.
  • Strong procurement, tendering and negotiation experience.
  • Excellent analytical, communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Experience on large-scale construction or engineering projects.
  • Semiconductor, pharmaceutical, data centre, life sciences or advanced manufacturing experience is highly desirable.
