Job description

GEDON has partnered with an established Tier 2 main contractor with a strong presence across the Dublin construction market. The business delivers a diverse portfolio of large-scale building projects across residential, mixed-use, development, commercial and light commercial sectors, with individual project values reaching approximately €100 million.

With a healthy forward workload and continued growth across the business, they are now looking to appoint an experienced Contracts Director to take a senior position within their Dublin operation.

This is a genuinely influential role rather than simply overseeing individual projects. You will sit across multiple live and upcoming developments, providing leadership to project teams, maintaining strong relationships with clients and consultants, and ensuring projects are commercially successful, properly resourced and delivered to the expected standards.

It will particularly suit an experienced Contracts Manager, Project Director or Contracts Director who has developed their career within the Irish main contracting market and is ready to take broader responsibility across a portfolio of projects.

Your Responsibilities

Reporting into the senior leadership team, you will have overall responsibility for the successful delivery and commercial performance of multiple construction projects.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Oversee multiple projects from pre-construction through procurement, construction, handover and final account
  • Provide leadership and direction to Project Managers, Commercial Managers, Site Managers and wider project delivery teams
  • Maintain oversight of programme, commercial performance, procurement, quality, safety and project risk
  • Work closely with the commercial team to ensure projects achieve agreed margin and profitability targets
  • Review project performance, identifying potential contractual, programme and commercial risks before they impact delivery
  • Provide senior-level input into procurement strategy, subcontractor appointments and contractual matters
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, consultants, design teams, subcontractors and other key stakeholders
  • Support project teams with complex contractual, commercial and delivery issues
  • Ensure appropriate reporting, forecasting and project controls are maintained across the portfolio
  • Contribute to tender reviews, project selection, pre-construction planning and delivery strategy
  • Mentor and develop senior members of the construction team, helping strengthen the company's future leadership capability
  • Work alongside the Directors of the business on operational strategy, resource planning and continued growth

What We're Looking For

This is a senior appointment and requires someone with a strong understanding of the Irish building and main contracting market.

Ideally, you will have:

  • Significant experience working for a recognised Tier 1, Tier 2 or established main contractor
  • Previous experience operating as a Contracts Manager, Project Director, Contracts Director or similar senior construction leadership position
  • Experience managing multiple projects and senior project teams simultaneously
  • Strong commercial and contractual understanding alongside your operational construction knowledge
  • Demonstrated experience delivering projects through the full construction lifecycle
  • Excellent leadership skills with the ability to challenge, support and develop project teams
  • Strong client-facing and stakeholder management capabilities
  • A relevant qualification in Construction Management, Engineering, Quantity Surveying or a related discipline would be advantageous

Most importantly, you will be someone capable of taking ownership at a business level rather than simply at project level.

What You'll Get in Return

This is an opportunity to step into a senior and highly visible position within an established contractor where your decisions will have a genuine impact on the performance and future direction of the business.

You'll inherit a strong pipeline of projects while working across some of Dublin's most significant residential and mixed-use developments, with project values reaching approximately €100M.

For someone currently operating as a senior Contracts Manager or Project Director, the position provides the opportunity to make the transition into a broader director-level leadership role, moving away from day-to-day management of a single project and taking responsibility across a portfolio and wider business function.

A highly competitive executive package will be negotiated depending on experience.
