Job description

Role Profile: Compliance Specialist — Credit Union Sector

Financial Services Technology · Ireland (on-site)

Contract: Permanent

Location: Dublin 12 — on-site

About the role

Ireland's credit union sector is under more regulatory scrutiny than ever — DORA, data protection, and rising Central Bank expectations — and our client sits at the centre of it, providing the core banking and digital technology used widely across the sector. They're looking for a compliance specialist to keep their products, and their own business, aligned with the rules their credit union clients have to meet.

This isn't an in-house credit union compliance role. Your focus is making sure the technology enables client compliance — and that the company meets its own obligations as a technology provider to regulated financial firms. It's a hands‑on, regulation‑facing role for someone who knows the Irish regulatory environment well and has dealt directly with the regulator.

What you'll do

  • Act as the regulatory subject‑matter expert for the credit union sector — tracking Central Bank regulations, the Consumer Protection Code, AML/CFT, data protection and the wider regulatory framework, and turning changes into practical product and process requirements
  • Be the point of contact for regulatory engagement — supporting regulatory returns, inspections and thematic reviews, and preparing responses to Central Bank correspondence and queries
  • Make sure the platform and its modules (core banking, member onboarding, the member app and related integrations) support clients' compliance obligations by design
  • Own the provider side of DORA and operational resilience — ICT third‑party risk, incident‑reporting readiness, register‑of‑information support, and client due‑diligence and contractual responses
  • Support information‑security governance, external audits, certifications and vendor security assessments
  • Act as compliance liaison to clients, user groups and integration partners, handling queries, due‑diligence questionnaires and audit requests
  • Contribute to internal compliance policies, staff awareness and process improvement

What you'll bring

  • Strong, current knowledge of the Irish credit union or financial‑services regulatory environment — Central Bank regulations, Consumer Protection Code, AML/CFT and data protection
  • Direct experience dealing with the Central Bank of Ireland — regulatory returns, inspections or reviews, and regulatory correspondence
  • A recognised compliance qualification (e.g. LCI / Professional Diploma in Compliance), or clear equivalent compliance experience
  • The ability to turn regulation into practical, documented requirements, and to work well with both technical and business stakeholders
  • Experience in a credit union, bank, or financial‑services technology / fintech environment
  • Exposure to DORA, ICT / operational resilience, or data‑processor obligations
  • Experience supporting regulatory inspections, thematic reviews or remediation programmes

What’s on offer

  • [Pension and benefits — to confirm]
  • [Learning & development — e.g. support towards LCI / CPD]
  • A compliance role with real breadth — product, data protection and operational resilience in one seat
  • The chance to shape how technology keeps a whole sector compliant, at a time of significant regulatory change

Who we’re looking for

You’re a compliance person who likes solving the practical problem, not just citing the rule. You know the Irish regulatory environment inside out, you’ve dealt with the regulator directly, and you can read a regulatory change and see what it means for a system, a process and a client — then explain it plainly to people who aren’t compliance specialists. You’re comfortable owning your area and being the person clients trust to have the answer.

If that sounds like you, get in touch.
