Role Title: Compliance and Safety Specialist

Reporting to: Head of Compliance and supporting Head of Safety
ROLE SUMMARY
- The Compliance and Safety Specialist (CSS) is responsible for supporting the Head of Compliance (HoC) in the governance and administration of the compliance monitoring function activities and support the Head of Safety (HoS) as required.
- The Compliance function is independent of operational functions. The role involves working closely with the HoC in supporting compliance processes and procedures and compliance management tools across the organisation.
- The CSS reports directly to the HoC. The CSS will work alongside the existing team to ensure the optimal integration of current compliance process and tools throughout the organisation.
DUTIES OF THE COMPLIANCE AND SAFETY SPECIALIST INCLUDE BUT NOT LIMITED TO:
- Act as a point of contact in the Compliance department within the broader organisation and functional units;
- Provide analytical and technical support in all types compliance issues such as data gathering, training and correspondence with internal and external customers;
- Assist in the production of Compliance performance reports based on analysis of CMS data & information;
- Support the HoC in preparing for meetings such as; SSCRB, Management Review and relevant department meetings;
- Provide support to departments in carrying out Root Cause Analysis, Corrective Action Plans status, Hazard Identification & Risk Assessments, and Management of Change;
- Maintain the Compliance database and entering new information that arises;
- Facilitate and provide support in the training of individuals with Compliance responsibilities at functional level;
- Coordinate the integration of Safety & Compliance management processes by ensuring actions are taking within assigned deadlines;
- Assist the HoC in preparation for external audits e.g. IAA, Wyvern etc
- Lead the planning of internal audits;
- Conduct internal audits on the direction of the HoC;
- Raise awareness of responsibilities/activities around Compliance & Safety activities through publication of promotional material;
- Assist with maintaining, updating and publication of the Compliance Manuals;
- Assist in the development and implementation of Compliance and Safety Procedures, Centrik workflows;
- Ensure that Safety & Compliance policies and procedures for the organisation are regularly reviewed, updated and communicated to the relevant parties;
- Obtain, analyse and disseminate accident/incident occurrence information from other operators and external agencies;
- Carry out other projects/tasks as assigned by the HoC to meet the requirements and needs of the organisation.
THE COMPLIANCE AND SAFETY SPECIALIST SHOULD HAVE A GENERAL KNOWLEDGE OF THE FOLLOWING:
- Applicable laws, ICAO Annexes and regulatory requirements;
- Airline operational business processes and related terminology;
- Typical organisational structure of airlines, including size, functions and relationships;
- Safety and Compliance audit principles, procedures and techniques;
- Safety management systems, compliance monitoring systems and document management systems;
- Health & Safety policies and procedures.
THE COMPLIANCE AND SAFETY SPECIALIST SHALL HAVE EFFECTIVE SKILLS IN THE FOLLOWING AREAS:
- Previous internal auditor experience highly-desirable;
- Highly organised and work well in fast-paced environment;
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to present facts accurately and professionally;
- Must be able to multi-task;
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build relationships internally and externally;
- Excellent written skills, proof reading, structure, vocabulary with strong attention to detail;
- Proficient in computer software programs such as MS Office and relevant database systems used in the conduct of safety management and audit management;
- Basic analytical experience;
- Data organisation and storage knowledge.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- The Compliance and Safety Specialist is required to have a working knowledge of the Microsoft Office Suite.
- Knowledge of Centrik for safety reporting, risk management, document control and compliance management is highly desirable.
- The Compliance and Safety Specialist will receive internal training as required, to include the following as a minimum:
- Aviation Security training;
- Internal auditor training;
ESSENTIAL CRITERIA:
- Fluent in English, both written and spoken;
