Job summary

Morgan McKinley is seeking a Company Accountant for a growing FMCG business in North Dublin. You will own day-to-day accounting, ensure accurate financial reporting and strong controls, and support month-end and year-end activities.

Responsibilities include managing AP/AR, payroll oversight, VAT returns, and liaising with Group Finance on reporting. ACA/ACCA/CIMA qualified candidates with 2+ years PQE are preferred.

Responsibilities

• Prepare monthly and quarterly accounts, including management accounts.

• Oversee payroll processing and ensure timely submission.
• Prepare and submit VAT returns and ensure deadlines are met.
• Assist with year-end accounts and external audits preparation.
• Maintain general ledger and support month-end/year-end close.
• Collaborate with Group Finance on reporting and controls.
• Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes.

Job description

An established and growing business within the FMCG sector is looking to hire a Company Accountant to join its finance function in North Dublin.

Reporting directly to Group Finance, this role will take ownership of the day-to-day accounting activities, ensuring accurate financial reporting, strong financial controls and the smooth running of the finance function.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare monthly and quarterly accounts, including management accounts and supporting financial information.
• Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable, ensuring invoices, payments and customer receipts are processed accurately and on time.
• Prepare and maintain balance sheet reconciliations, investigating and resolving any discrepancies.
• Oversee payroll processing and ensure payroll information is accurate and submitted on time.
• Prepare and submit VAT returns, ensuring compliance with relevant deadlines and requirements.
• Assist with year-end accounts preparation and coordinate supporting documentation for external audits.
• Maintain accurate general ledger records and support month-end and year-end close processes.
• Work closely with the Group Finance team on financial reporting, controls and ad hoc accounting requirements.
• Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes and efficiencies.

The Ideal Candidate

• ACA, ACCA or CIMA qualified, with at least 2 years' PQE.
• Trained within a Top 10 accountancy practice.
• Strong technical accounting skills, with experience across accounts preparation, reconciliations and financial reporting.
• Experience across AP, AR, payroll oversight and VAT returns.
• FMCG, food, manufacturing or distribution experience would be advantageous but is not essential.
• Strong attention to detail, organisational skills and the ability to manage competing deadlines.
• Comfortable working independently while collaborating with a wider finance team.
