Job summary

Aramark Ireland is seeking a Commis Chef at University Hospital Galway to support high-quality patient and staff catering. You will assist the kitchen team with daily operations, ensuring food safety standards, portion control, and timely service in a busy hospital environment.

The ideal candidate has previous experience in fast-paced catering, a strong interest in people, and a solid background in food production with knowledge of HACCP and food hygiene practices.

• A strong background in food production
• Knowledge of Food Hygiene, including HACCP

Responsibilities

• Assist the Head Chef, Sous Chefs & Chef de Parties in day to day running of the Kitchen.
• Provide assistant to other staff as directed by your supervisor or manager.
• Follow HACCP guidelines and ensure that all the necessary information is recorded accurately.
• Observe infection control and HACCP policies in food handling, storage, wearing gloves and proper PPE.
• Co-operate with health and safety training programmes and adhere to policies and procedures.

As a Commis Chef at University Hospital Galway, you will play a key role in delivering high-quality catering services to patients, staff, and visitors. • To follow the Catering Hygiene Policy guidelines along with Aramark's dress code policy in maintaining a clean uniform and hygienic appearance at all times.
• To observe Aramark & the hospitals confidentiality policy.
• Assist the Head Chef, Sous Chefs & Chef de Parties in day to day running of the Kitchen.
• Provide assistant to other staff as directed by your supervisor or manager.
• Follow HACCP guidelines and ensure that all the necessary information is being recorded accurately and efficiently.
• Observes infection control and HACCP policies in food handling storage, wearing gloves and proper protective equipment.
• Lift and carry heavy items in line with manual handling procedure.
• Observe the correct use and care of equipment reporting any defect in materials or equipment properly.
• Co-operate fully and participate with/in all health and safety training programmes
• Comply with and adhere to all Aramark & Hospital policies and procedures.
• Adhere to the prescribed dress code and wear all safety and hygiene clothing and equipment as prescribed at all times when required to do so.
