Job summary

Design Build Search are partnering with a specialist consultancy in the environmental space to recruit a Commercial Manager in Ireland. The role will own all commercial aspects of ongoing projects, working closely with leading clients and stakeholders to develop, approve and implement robust design solutions through collaborative working and proactive client management.

Qualifications

• Minimum 10 years of project/contract management experience.
• A Level 8 Honours Degree in Civil Engineering, Quantity Surveying or related field.
• Chartered status CEng, MRICS or equivalent.
• Proven consultancy environment experience.
• Experience with tender stage contracts and scope of services risk reviews.
• Experience with contract stage, early warnings and change notices.
• Experience negotiating commercial settlements.
• Knowledge of Public Works Contracts (GCCC).
• Knowledge of NEC/COE1 contracts desirable.
• Experience with bespoke client contracts and conciliations desirable.
• Strong client liaison and communication abilities.
• Fluent in spoken and written English.
• Valid full clean driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Deliver pre and post contract opportunity and risk processes including risk mitigation.
• Support mobilisation of key contracts with robust processes.
• Negotiate with customers and supply chain.
• Deliver robust commercial solutions to bids and tenders.
• Develop strategies for improving cash flows.
• Adhere to company policies and processes.
• Resolve disputes and contractual interpretation issues.
• Assist with management of construction contracts.

Design Build Search are working with a specialist consultancy in the environmental space. Due to successful growth throughout Ireland, they have an opportunity for a commercial manager.

The successful applicant will be responsible for all commercial element of ongoing projects. The position requires credibility, competence, and technical excellence as it will be a role working closely with industry leading clients, stakeholders and will necessitate the development, approval, and implementation of robust design solutions through collaborative working, trust and proactive management of client demands.

Sectors:

• Minimum 10 years’ experience of project / contract management
• A Level 8 Honours Degree in Civil Engineering, Quantity Surveying or related field
• Chartered status CEng, MRICS or equivalent
• Proven experience of working in a consultancy environment
• Project/Contract Management - Experience and understanding of the needs and approaches to the engineering consultancy and design markets, including relationships with clients, work planning and commercial management
• Experience with tender stage contract and scope of services risk reviews
• Experience with contract stage, raising early warnings and change notices
• Experience in negotiating commercial settlements
• Knowledge of Public Works Contracts (GCCC)
• Knowledge of other industry Contracts and agreements e.g. NEC / COE1 desirable
• Experience of dealing with bespoke client contracts desirable,
• Experience of conciliations desirable,
• Working competency in relevant project management and data management software applications
• Excellent interpersonal skills
• Excellent communication skills and confidence to liaise with clients
• Good commercial track record in negotiating and managing successful contracts
