Job summary

TOM People is partnering with a high profile PLC to recruit a newly created Commercial Finance Director for a key business unit. The role offers a unique chance to shape strategy, influence commercial outcomes, and lead a capable finance team in a fast-paced environment.

You will provide strategic financial leadership, partner with senior stakeholders, oversee planning, forecasting, and performance reporting, and drive profitability through robust financial analysis and decisive governance.

Qualifications

• Min. 10 years PQE in finance (Big 4 background preferred).
• Commercially minded finance leader with a track record of partnering with senior stakeholders.
• Strong analytical capability and relationship-building skills with ability to influence at all levels.
• Extensive experience in commercial finance, FP&A, or strategic finance leadership.

Responsibilities

• Act as a strategic finance partner to senior leaders, helping shape business plans, priorities, and growth initiatives.
• Deliver meaningful analysis and forward-looking forecasts that support key commercial and operational decision-making.
• Oversee the planning cycle, leading budget, forecast, and long-term financial planning activities.
• Provide clear, actionable recommendations to stakeholders, translating financial data into business-focused insights.
• Support investment decisions, strategic projects, and business cases through robust financial evaluation and scenario analysis.
• Drive sustainable improvements in profitability by identifying opportunities to enhance revenue, optimise costs, and improve business performance.
• Build strong relationships across the organisation, working collaboratively with operational and commercial teams to achieve shared objectives.
• Champion a culture of financial accountability, ensuring stakeholders have the information and support needed to make informed decisions.
• Lead and develop a high-performing finance team, fostering capability, engagement, and continuous professional growth.
• Contribute to business transformation and change programmes,
• Promote best practice in financial management, governance, and performance reporting.

ABOUT THE PERSON:

• Ideally Big 4 background with min. 10 years PQE experience
• Commercially minded finance leader with a proven track record of partnering with senior stakeholders to deliver meaningful business outcomes.
• Strong analytical capability with excellent relationship-building skills and have the confidence to challenge, influence, and drive performance at all levels of the organisation.
• Extensive experience in commercial finance, financial business partnering, FP&A, or strategic finance leadership roles.
