Job summary

A specialty coffee business is looking for an Assistant Manager to lead daily operations and support the team. The ideal candidate will be a skilled barista with leadership experience in hospitality. Qualifications

  • Coffee qualifications (e.g. SCA) and food safety/H&S knowledge are a bonus.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure opening/closing, H&S and TRAIL checks are completed properly every day.

Job description


Assistant Managers are aspiring leaders and passionate baristas who help run the shop day to day.

You will support your Area & Junior Area Managers and work closely with Operations Manager and Head of Coffee to keep standards high, your team motivated and customers genuinely delighted. You stay calm under pressure, juggle multiple priorities and use strong people skills to lead by example on every shift.

What you’ll do

  • Lead from the front on bar, modelling excellent coffee preparation and warm, efficient service.
  • Build real relationships with regulars and welcome new guests, handling any issues with sincerity and care.
  • Create a positive, well‑run shop: clean, organised, on time and focused on quality.
  • Train, coach and support your team so they feel confident, capable and engaged.
  • Build and manage rotas, control labour and waste, and help deliver healthy, profitable shops.
  • Oversee food and drink standards, HACCP, stock, ordering and daily cash/POS admin.
