Job summary

Whitehall Recruitment Ltd has a role in Ireland for a Chemist in the Research and Development laboratory. You will support the manufacturing department with product testing, formulation and process monitoring, and investigate issues affecting quality and cost.

You will formulate and test coatings, maintain lab records, and communicate findings to suppliers and production teams. A degree in science/chemistry is required, with coatings experience preferred.

Qualifications

• Graduate level qualification in science, chemistry, colour chemistry or related field.
• Experience in coatings laboratory is preferred.
• Knowledge of paint/coatings formulation preferable.
• Good colour vision.
• Excellent communication and report-writing skills.

Responsibilities

• Formulate and test new coatings.
• Apply coating testing techniques and standards.
• Investigate and optimise existing paint formulations for cost and quality.
• Communicate with raw material suppliers and assess cost impact.
• Maintain records of work and calibrations.
