Job summary

Solas IT Recruitment seeks a hands-on Cloud / Platform Engineer in Limerick to design, build and improve cloud infrastructure and Kubernetes environments. You will collaborate with development teams, take requirements through to production, and apply an SRE approach to reliability and automation for scalable platforms.

Qualifications

• Strong experience designing, building and supporting Azure or AWS.
• Deep understanding of compute, networking, storage and identity services.
• Hands-on Kubernetes deployment/operation (AKS/EKS).
• Experience investigating live production issues and implementing improvements.
• Experience with monitoring/observability tools.
• Practical experience supporting Windows and Linux environments.
• Scripting and automation experience.
• Strong cloud security understanding and change impact awareness.
• Clear communication and collaboration with development teams.
• Ability to explain your design decisions and production support approach.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, configure and maintain Azure or AWS infrastructure across compute, networking, storage and IAM.
• Work directly with developers to translate requirements into reliable infrastructure and platform solutions.
• Build, operate and troubleshoot Kubernetes environments (AKS on Azure or EKS on AWS).
• Investigate production incidents involving cloud services, Kubernetes workloads, OS and app dependencies.
• Resolve connectivity issues, performance bottlenecks and configuration problems.
• Identify root causes and implement changes to reduce recurring incidents.
• Develop monitoring and observability through logs, metrics, dashboards and alerts.
• Automate infrastructure and operational tasks using scripting (Python beneficial).
• Improve platform resilience, security and maintainability.
• Document platform designs, configurations and operational procedures.
