Job summary

Solas IT Recruitment in Galway is seeking a hands-on Azure Cloud / Platform Engineer to design, build and improve cloud platforms that support development teams and production applications.

You will own the infrastructure in production using a Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) approach, focusing on reliability, automation, proactive improvements and solving the underlying causes of production issues. Hybrid: 2 days per week in office.

Qualifications

• Hands-on experience designing, building and supporting Azure platforms.
• In-depth understanding of Azure compute, networking, storage and identity.
• Hands-on Kubernetes experience, AKS preferred.
• Troubleshoot production issues and implement lasting fixes.
• Use monitoring/observability to assess platform health.
• Support Windows and Linux environments.
• Automation and scripting experience.
• Strong cloud security understanding and change impact awareness.
• Clear written and spoken communication with development teams.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, configure and maintain Azure infrastructure across compute, networking, storage and identity.
• Collaborate with developers to translate requirements into platform solutions.
• Deploy, operate and troubleshoot Kubernetes workloads (AKS where relevant).
• Investigate production incidents and implement root-cause improvements.
• Develop monitoring/logging dashboards and actionable alerts.
• Automate infrastructure and tasks using scripting (Python beneficial).
• Improve platform resilience, performance and security.
• Manage access controls and patching requirements.
• Document platform designs and operational procedures.
