Job summary

GCS Recruitment is seeking a Senior Cloud Platform Architect to lead the transformation of critical infrastructure services into a modern, cloud-native environment in Ireland.

You will design and implement production-grade Kubernetes platforms across AWS/Azure/GCP, drive Terraform-based automation and support multi-cloud migration strategies while shaping the future cloud operating model.

Qualifications

• 7+ years in platform engineering, SRE or cloud architecture roles.
• Proven experience delivering enterprise-scale cloud transformations.
• Strong Kubernetes production experience.

Senior Cloud Platform Architect

Cloud Infrastructure | Kubernetes | Multi-Cloud | Infrastructure Modernisation

11 Months Fix-Term Contract with chances of conversion into permanent.

We're looking for a Senior Cloud Platform Architect to help drive the transformation of critical infrastructure services into a modern, cloud-native environment.

This role sits at the heart of a large-scale infrastructure modernisation programme, supporting the redesign, migration and operation of foundational platform services across public cloud environments.

You'll work on highly available, business-critical services while helping shape the future cloud operating model through automation, containerisation and infrastructure-as-code practices.

What You'll Be Doing

• Lead the architecture and modernisation of core infrastructure services within cloud-native environments
• Design and implement production-grade Kubernetes platforms across AWS, Azure and/or GCP
• Drive infrastructure automation using Terraform and modern IaC practices
• Design multi-cloud infrastructure patterns and service networking solutions
• Support migration initiatives from traditional virtualised environments towards cloud-native platforms
• Build and improve CI/CD pipelines, deployment strategies and operational tooling
• Partner with engineering teams to improve resilience, scalability and platform reliability
• Champion an "everything-as-code" approach across infrastructure and operations

What We're Looking For

Essential

• Strong experience architecting and operating Kubernetes platforms in production
• Deep understanding of public cloud infrastructure (AWS, Azure and/or GCP)
• Experience with Terraform or similar Infrastructure-as-Code tooling
• Strong Linux systems engineering background
• Experience with Docker and container ecosystem technologies
• Understanding of cloud networking, service discovery and platform security
• Experience building automated deployment and operational workflows
• Development experience in Go, Python or similar languages

Nice To Have

• Crossplane experience
• Platform Engineering experience
• SRE or Reliability Engineering backgroundExperience supporting critical shared services at scale
• Exposure to infrastructure modernisation or datacentre transformation programmes

Background

• 7+ years within Platform Engineering, Infrastructure Engineering, SRE or Cloud Architecture roles
• Proven experience delivering enterprise-scale cloud transformations
• Experience leading architectural decisions and migration programmes
