Job summary

UPMC Ireland is seeking a Clinical Nurse Manager 2 to lead quality and patient safety across UPMC Kildare Hospital. The role provides professional leadership for clinical review, audits and assurance, incident learning, and continuous quality improvement.

Essential experience includes 5+ years as a Registered General Nurse with a strong background in quality, safety, accreditation (CHKS/JCI), and regulatory standards; strong IT skills and leadership abilities are required for governance and

Qualifications

• Registered General Nurse with at least 5 years post qualification experience.
• Demonstrated experience in quality and patient safety, including areas such as clinical audit, quality assurance, risk management or clinical governance.
• Experience with hospital accreditation essential - CHKS or JCI.
• Knowledge of healthcare standards and regulatory requirements.
• Demonstrate a high level of knowledge of developments within the healthcare quality.
• Demonstrate a knowledge of applying standards to practice, quality improvement process and quality and safety frameworks.
• Excellent IT skills: MS Office skills to include, MS Teams, Word, Excel and PowerPoint, knowledge and experience of using an email system effectively e.g., Outlook.

Responsibilities

• Quality Management: develop, implement, and monitor the hospital's Quality Management System (QMS) and lead audits and improvement plans.
• Risk Management: oversee the Risk Management Framework, maintain risk register, and lead incident investigations and RCA.
• Patient Safety: implement patient safety initiatives, monitor safety indicators and lead multidisciplinary safety committees.
• Continuous Improvement / Lean Management: lead Lean, Six Sigma, PDSA cycles and train staff in quality tools.
• Accreditation & Compliance: prepare for inspections, ensure documentation meets standards, liaise with regulators.
• Data, Reporting & Governance: provide regular quality and safety reports, support governance meetings and audits.
• Education & Staff Engagement: deliver risk management training and promote a culture of safety and learning.
