Job summary

Circet Ireland is seeking an experienced Clerk of Works to oversee telecoms civil engineering and utility diversion works across the Greater Dublin Area. The role requires inspecting copper and fibre networks, ensuring safety, quality, and compliance with project specs and industry standards.

The ideal candidate will have strong telecoms knowledge, site inspection experience, and the ability to travel between sites.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years' experience within telecommunications infrastructure or utility construction.
  • Knowledge of Eir or similar telecom network standards.
  • Proven experience supervising telecoms civils and cabling activities.
  • Excellent understanding of fibre and copper network architecture.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to work independently and make informed technical decisions on site.
  • Competent in preparing inspection reports and maintaining project documentation.
  • Full clean driving licence.
  • Telecommunications or Civil Engineering qualification (desirable).
  • NRSWA/Signing, Lighting & Guarding certification (desirable).
  • Safe Pass.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor and inspect telecoms civil works to ensure compliance with approved drawings, specifications, and quality standards.
  • Supervise works associated with relocation, diversion, and protection of copper and fibre networks.
  • Verify contractors adhere to health, safety, environmental, and quality procedures.
  • Conduct site inspections and audits throughout all construction phases.
  • Liaise with clients, network operators, contractors, local authorities, and utilities.
  • Ensure reinstatement works meet required standards.
  • Review and report on progress, workmanship, and non-conformances.
  • Maintain accurate site records, inspection reports, photos, and as-built information.
  • Witness testing, commissioning, and acceptance of telecoms infrastructure.
  • Monitor traffic management and public safety at street works.
  • Identify and resolve technical issues affecting delivery.
  • Provide guidance on fibre and copper network construction methodologies.

Circet Ireland are looking for an an experienced Clerk of Worksto oversee and inspect telecoms civil engineering and utility diversion works across the Greater Dublin Area. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring that all construction activities relating to the relocation and protection of existing copper and fibre optic networks are completed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with project specifications, industry standards, and client requirements.

The ideal candidate will combine strong telecoms technical knowledge with practical site inspection experience, ensuring that all fibre, copper, ducting, chamber and pole network works are delivered safely, efficiently, and to the highest quality standards. A strong technical background in telecommunications infrastructure, including cabling, jointing, splicing, ducting, and pole network construction, is essential

This position is based throughout the Greater Dublin Areaand will involve travel between multiple project sites. Due to the nature of telecoms network relocation and cutover works, the successful candidate must be willing to work outside normal business hours, including evenings, nights, weekends, and emergency callouts when requiredto support critical network activities and minimise service disruption to customers.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise works associated with the relocation, diversion, and protection of existing copper and fibre optic networks.

  • Strong understanding of Health & Safety legislation and safe systems of work.
  • Familiarity with street works, excavation safety, and utility avoidance practices.
  • Ability to identify and report safety hazards and ensure corrective actions are implemented.
Technical Requirements

The successful candidate should have demonstrable experience in:

  • Telecoms civil engineering and utility diversion projects.
  • Fibre optic cable installation, jointing, and splicing.
  • Copper cable network installation and maintenance.
  • Ducting, chamber construction, and cable proving.
  • Overhead telecoms networks and pole route construction.
  • Network relocation and diversion works associated with road, rail, and infrastructure projects.
  • Quality assurance and inspection processes.
  • Interpretation of engineering drawings and utility records.
Skills & Experience
  • Minimum 5 years' experience within telecommunications infrastructure or utility construction.
