This is a hands‑on leadership role requiring someone comfortable operating at both strategic and operational level. The successful candidate will take ownership of financial planning, cash flow, working capital, governance and reporting, while developing the financial processes, controls and systems required to support a scaling organisation.

The CFO will also work closely with Commercial, Production, Engineering and other operational functions, providing financial guidance and ensuring strong visibility of project costs, margins, risks and overall business performance.

Responsibilities:
  • Own and develop the financial strategy of the organisation, providing guidance to senior leadership on key business decisions.
  • Lead financial planning, budgeting, forecasting and performance management across the organisation.
  • Take direct responsibility for cash flow forecasting and working capital management.
  • Develop and strengthen financial processes, controls, systems and reporting structures to support continued growth.
  • Ensure robust financial governance, statutory compliance, tax management and audit readiness.
  • Work closely with Commercial, Production and Engineering teams to ensure accurate project costing, margin management and financial visibility.
  • Lead relationships with banks, lenders and funding partners, including the management of working capital and growth facilities.
  • Identify, monitor and mitigate financial and commercial risks across the organisation.
  • Prepare and present clear and accurate financial reporting and analysis to senior leadership, board members and other stakeholders.
  • Lead, mentor and develop the finance team, building a high‑performing and accountable function.
  • Provide financial and commercial guidance across the wider organisation, supporting cost‑conscious decision‑making.
  • Support senior leadership with investment decisions, commercial analysis and longer‑term financial planning.
  • Drive continuous improvement of financial systems, processes and reporting infrastructure.
  • Support the organisation through periods of growth, operational change and financial challenge.
Responsibilities:
  • Significant senior finance leadership experience, ideally within a CFO, Finance Director or similar position.
  • Recognised professional accounting qualification such as ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent.
  • Experience within construction, manufacturing, engineering or another project‑based environment.
  • Strong understanding of project costing, contract structures, margin management and working capital.
  • Demonstrated experience developing or scaling a finance function within a growing organisation.
  • Experience establishing and improving financial controls, processes, systems and reporting structures.
  • Strong cash flow and working capital management experience.
  • Experience managing relationships with banks, lenders, auditors and other external financial stakeholders.
  • Previous experience supporting an organisation through financial difficulty or significant operational change.
  • Strong commercial judgement with the ability to translate financial information into practical business decisions.
  • Proven experience leading and developing finance teams.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to work effectively across all levels of an organisation.
  • Comfortable operating with a high degree of autonomy in a hands‑on and evolving environment.
