Job summary

Arup in Ireland invites students and graduates in Civil, Environmental, Structural, Mechanical or Building Engineering to join its Early Careers programme. You will gain hands-on experience in microclimate analysis, CFD, wind and thermal comfort studies, and climate risk assessments on real-world projects.

Collaborate with engineers across disciplines, attend design team meetings, present outcomes, and develop skills in building physics and digital tools while contributing to sustainable design.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a Bachelor’s, Master’s or higher Degree in Civil, Environmental, Structural, Mechanical, Building Engineering, or related disciplines.
• Fundamental knowledge of fluid dynamics, building physics, energy modelling and/or environmental physics.
• Basic coding, scripting and/or digital awareness skills.
• Interest in the built environment.
• Experience or familiarity with computational fluid dynamics (CFD).

Responsibilities

• Develop knowledge and skills in understanding and analysing local microclimates.
• Assist with studies to identify the impact of different climate conditions on microclimate, pedestrian wind comfort and air quality.
• Learn building physics and CFD analyses to support design decisions (wind & thermal comfort, emission dispersion, ventilation).
• Assist climate investigations to understand natural hazards and climate change risks.
• Collaborate with structural, civil, mechanical engineers and risk consultants on innovative projects.
• Work with in-house technical and digital specialists to find solutions for client challenges.
• Attend design team meetings and present design outcomes.
