Job summary

Oakfield Nursing Home in Gorey, Co Wexford is seeking a Full-time Catering Assistant to join our care team. You will support the cook/chef, handle kitchen duties, and help provide meals, drinks, and snacks to residents with a focus on safety and quality.

This role emphasizes infection control, teamwork, and delivering a respectful, patient-centered dining experience for residents. Training will be provided, and there are opportunities for growth within Curam Care Homes.

Qualifications

• Nursing Home experience is desirable but not essential.
• Catering Assistant experience is desirable but not essential.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills to effectively communicate with colleagues, residents and their families.
• HACCP or other food safety training is advantageous, however not essential as this training will be provided.
• Knowledge of the International Dysphagia Diet Standardisation Initiative (IDDSI) is beneficial

Responsibilities

• Ensure the highest standards of Food Safety and Hygiene.
• Ensure that all work is carried out while ensuring resident and food safety.
• Practice and ensure that food safety and infection control guidelines are adhered to at all times and being practiced by employees.
• Work cooperatively and communicate with members of the multidisciplinary team.
• Ensures that all incidents are reported to the Head Chef and Director of Nursing/Person in Charge .
• Be professional, friendly and approachable in all interactions with residents, visitors and staff.
• Keep catering and food safety documentation updated and works closely with the Head Chef to ensure the smooth day to day operations of the catering department.
• Monitor stock levels of all equipment and supplies and report any deficits to the Head Chef.
• Support in the provision of a quality person centered dining experience for the residents
