Job summary

Curam Care Homes is hiring a Catering Assistant at Navan Road Care Home. You will support the cook/chef, assist with kitchen duties, and help provide meals and snacks to residents. The role emphasizes high standards of food safety and resident well-being.

Qualifications

• Nursing Home experience is desirable but not essential.

• Knowledge of IDDSI is beneficial.

Responsibilities

• Maintain top standards of food safety and hygiene.
• Support kitchen operations and provide meals, drinks and snacks to residents.
• Work with the multidisciplinary team and report incidents to senior staff.
• Keep catering and safety documentation up to date and coordinate with Head Chef.
• Monitor stock levels and assist in day-to-day catering operations.

Requirements

• Nursing Home experience is desirable but not essential
• Catering Assistant experience is desirable but not essential;
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills to effectively communicate with colleagues, residents and their families;
• HACCP or other food safety training is advantageous, however not essential as this training will be provided;
• Knowledge of the International Dysphagia Diet Standardisation Initiative (IDDSI) is beneficial

Key Responsibilities

• Ensure the highest standards of Food Safety and Hygiene
• Ensure that all work is carried out while ensuring resident and food safety.
• Practice and ensure that food safety and infection control guidelines are adhered to at all times and being practiced by employees.
• Work cooperatively and communicate with members of the multidisciplinary team.
• Ensures that all incidents are reported to the Head Chef and Director of Nursing/Person in Charge .
• Be professional, friendly and approachable in all interactions with residents, visitors and staff.
• Keep catering and food safety documentation updated and works closely with the Head Chef to ensure the smooth day to day operations of the catering department.
• Monitor stock levels of all equipment and supplies and report any deficits to the Head Chef.
• Support in the provision of a quality person centered dining experience for the residents

• Prepare food and support the cook/chef. You will also be required to support with kitchen duties (such as washing up) and provision of meal, drinks and snacks to residents.
