Job summary

Curam Care Homes is hiring a Full-time Catering Assistant to join the team at Oakfield Nursing Home in Gorey, Co Wexford. You will support the cook/chef, help with kitchen duties and provide meals, drinks and snacks to residents.

Qualifications

• Experience in a nursing home is desirable but not essential.
• Experience as a catering assistant is desirable but not essential.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills are required.
• HACCP or food safety training is advantageous but not essential.
• Knowledge of IDDSI is beneficial.

Responsibilities

• Ensure the highest standards of Food Safety and Hygiene.
• Ensure that all work is carried out while ensuring resident and food safety.
• Practice and ensure that food safety and infection control guidelines are adhered to at all times and being practiced by employees.
• Work cooperatively and communicate with members of the multidisciplinary team.
• Ensures that all incidents are reported to the Head Chef and Director of Nursing/Person in Charge .
• Be professional, friendly and approachable in all interactions with residents, visitors and staff.
• Keep catering and food safety documentation updated and works closely with the Head Chef to ensure the smooth day to day operations of the catering department.
• Monitor stock levels of all equipment and supplies and report any deficits to the Head Chef.
• Support in the provision of a quality person centered dining experience for the residents

• Catering Assistant experience is desirable but not essential;

• Knowledge of the International Dysphagia Diet Standardisation Initiative (IDDSI) is beneficial

• Prepare food and support the cook/chef. You will also be required to support with kitchen duties (such as washing up) and provision of meal, drinks and snacks to residents.
