Job summary

The Kingsley in Cork City, Ireland is seeking a Carpenter/Maintenance Operative to maintain safe, efficient and well-presented environments across the property. You will work with the Engineering team to support a high-quality guest experience.

• Assist with general maintenance tasks including basic plumbing, electrical, HVAC, painting and repair work.
• Support the hotel’s preventative maintenance programme.
• Respond to maintenance requests in guest bedrooms, public areas and back-of-house areas.
• Maintain equipment, tools and machinery in good working order.
• Monitor appearance and upkeep to maintain high standards at all times.
• Assist with emergency maintenance issues relating to fire, water, electricity, etc.
• Submit requests to reorder supplies and spare parts as required.
• Report building, equipment or maintenance concerns to the Engineering Manager.
• Follow all company health and safety policies and procedures.

We are recruiting for a Carpenter/Maintenance Operative to join our team at The Kingsley.

This role is responsible for ensuring the safe, efficient, and well-presented operation of all internal and external areas across the property. The Carpenter/Maintenance Operative will work closely with the Engineering team to support a high-quality guest experience.

Key Responsibilities

• Carry out carpentry repairs and maintenance throughout the hotel, including doors, locks, furniture, fixtures, fittings, and general woodwork
• Support with general maintenance tasks including basic plumbing, electrical, HVAC, painting, and repair work
• Assist with the hotel’s preventative maintenance programme
• Respond to maintenance requests in guest bedrooms, public areas, and back-of-house areas
• Maintain equipment, tools, and machinery in good working order
• Monitor the appearance and upkeep of the hotel, ensuring high standards are maintained at all times
• Assist with emergency maintenance issues relating to fire, water, electricity, and other essential services
• Submit requests to reorder supplies and spare parts as required
• Report any building, equipment, or maintenance concerns to the Engineering Manager
• Follow all company policies, procedures, and health and safety requirements

The Ideal Candidate Will Have

• Previous carpentry experience
• General maintenance experience or a good practical skill set
• A hands-on, flexible approach to work
• Strong attention to detail and pride in their work
• Ability to work on their own initiative and as part of a team
• Basic IT skills
• Safe Pass would be an advantage
