Job summary

Kids Inc. in Dublin is seeking a Caretaker on a full-time fixed-term contract with strong potential to become permanent. You will maintain multiple childcare sites, perform daily repairs, manage your schedule, and travel between services to keep facilities safe and welcoming for children and staff.

The role requires independent work, reliability, and effective communication; driving between locations and Garda vetting are part of the process.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years' experience in caretaking, facilities, maintenance, or similar role.
• Own transport and full Category B driving licence.
• Fluent English and ability to travel between Dublin locations.

Responsibilities

• Carry out day-to-day repairs and general maintenance across Kids Inc services.
• Complete basic plumbing, carpentry, tiling, painting, mechanical, and general repair tasks.
• Carry out handyman repairs and general facilities upkeep.
• Move, assemble, and maintain furniture and equipment as required.
• Safely operate hand and power tools.
• Ensure all work is completed safely and in line with health and safety requirements.
• Help maintain safe and welcoming environments for children, staff, and visitors.
• Travel between service locations throughout Dublin.
• Prioritise requests and adapt to changing workloads.
• Complete job reports and communicate updates via email.

Caretaker | Full-Time | Fixed-Term Contract (With potential to become permanent)

Working Hours: Tuesday to Friday, 11:00am - 8:00pm, and Saturday, 8:00am - 5:00pm.

We are currently recruiting a Caretaker to join our Facilities team, supporting our services across the Dublin area. This is a full-time fixed-term contract with strong potential to become a permanent position.

Location

Dublin - travel required between Kids Inc services.

About The Role

As a Caretaker, you will play a key role in ensuring our childcare services remain safe, functional, and well maintained.

Working across multiple locations, you will carry out a wide range of practical repairs and general maintenance tasks while responding efficiently to day-to-day requests.

You will work independently, managing your daily schedule and travelling between services to complete planned and reactive work.

About You

• Experienced in general building maintenance, facilities, or a similar practical role.
• Skilled in basic plumbing, carpentry, tiling, painting, and general repairs.
• Able to work independently and manage their own workload.
• Organised, reliable, and solution-focused.
• Professional, approachable, and comfortable working in childcare environments.
• Confident using email and completing job reports.
• A strong communicator with excellent time management skills.

Essential Requirements

• Minimum 3 years' experience in a caretaking, facilities, maintenance, or similar role
• Own transport.
• Full, clean Category B driving licence.
• Ability to travel between Kids Inc locations throughout Dublin.
• Fluent English.
• A Category D/D1 driving licence is desirable but not essential.
