Job summary

Kids Inc. in Dublin is seeking a motivated Caretaker to join our Facilities team. You will perform day-to-day repairs and maintenance across multiple childcare sites, travelling between services to complete planned and reactive work.

You will manage a varied workload, prioritise requests, and report on job progress via email. A minimum of 3 years in caretaking or facilities is expected, with a full, clean Category B licence and own transport.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years' experience in caretaking, facilities, maintenance, or similar role.
• Experience in basic plumbing, carpentry, tiling, painting and general repairs.
• Ability to travel between Kids Inc locations throughout Dublin.
• Own transport and a valid Category B driving licence.

Responsibilities

• Carry out day-to-day repairs and general maintenance across Kids Inc services.
• Complete basic plumbing, carpentry, tiling, painting, mechanical, and general repair tasks.
• Carry out handyman repairs and general facilities upkeep.
• Move, assemble, and maintain furniture and equipment as required.
• Safely operate hand and power tools.
• Ensure all work is completed safely and in line with health and safety requirements.
• Help maintain safe and welcoming environments for children, staff, and visitors.
• Travel between service locations throughout Dublin.
• Prioritise requests and adapt to changing workloads.
• Complete job reports and communicate updates via email.

Working Hours: Tuesday to Friday, 11:00am – 8:00pm, and Saturday, 8:00am – 5:00pm.

We are currently recruiting a Caretaker to join our Facilities team, supporting our services across the Dublin area. This is a full-time fixed-term contract with strong potential to become a permanent position.

About the Role

As a Caretaker, you will play a key role in ensuring our childcare services remain safe, functional, and well maintained.

Working across multiple locations, you will carry out a wide range of practical repairs and general maintenance tasks while responding efficiently to day-to-day requests.

You will work independently, managing your daily schedule and travelling between services to complete planned and reactive work.

About You

We're looking for someone who is:

• Experienced in general building maintenance, facilities, or a similar practical role.
• Skilled in basic plumbing, carpentry, tiling, painting, and general repairs.
• Able to work independently and manage your own workload.
• Organised, reliable, and solution-focused.
• Professional, approachable, and comfortable working in childcare environments.
• Confident using email and completing job reports.
• A strong communicator with excellent time management skills.
• Minimum 3 years' experience in a caretaking, facilities, maintenance, or similar role
• Own transport.
• Full, clean Category B driving licence.
• Ability to travel between Kids Inc locations throughout Dublin.
• A Category D/D1 driving licence is desirable but not essential.
