Job description

Formerly known as HEAnet and EduCampus, we have been supporting Ireland’s academic and research community since 1983. We are now proud to come together as one unified organisation. Our new name Asiera captures what drives us every day – Advancing Services for Irish Education, Research and Academia.

Every day, our national education and research network supports more than 1.3 million students and researchers and over 175,000 staff across Ireland’s schools, ETBs and higher education institutions – more than 1.5 million people in total. In addition, we provide mission-critical management information systems to over 140,000 students and 20,000 staff across Ireland’s universities, technological universities, institutes of technology and colleges.

In Asiera, we are building an end-to-end digital ecosystem for Irish education, one that connects, enables, and empowers learners and institutions to thrive in an increasingly digital world.

We are seeking to appoint an experienced Business Analyst to join our MIS Programme Management team on a permanent contract basis.

This role is based at our Dublin 1 office; however, we are pleased to offer a flexible working arrangement via our Work-Life Balance Framework. This allows you to work from home up to three (3) days a week. You will be expected to work at least two (2) days a week in the office, giving you the opportunity to enjoy a balanced and dynamic work environment.

What the MIS Programme Management Team does

The MIS Programme Management team manage the delivery of business-critical ICT application projects for our clients in the Higher Education Sector in Ireland. We engage with clients to ensure clear definition of scope for all projects. We also engage with vendors to agree contract terms for delivery in line with framework agreements.

We provide experienced Project Management/Business Analysis expertise to ensure delivery of the agreed functionality in line with industry best practice, and we ensure smooth transition to a “business as usual” support, following successful completion of project deliverables.

What the Business Analyst does

Reporting to the Programme Manager, the Business Analyst will work as a key member of a project team and will play a significant role in the successful delivery of a portfolio of strategic projects.

The Business Analyst will be involved in the implementation of large-scale MIS programmes which require substantial business process change. The ability to engage effectively with the Project Team and other key stakeholders is a key requirement.

The successful candidate will be responsible for mapping and documenting ‘as is’ and ‘to be’ business processes, upgrading existing systems and implementing and testing new systems.

You will have duties that include, but are not limited to:

  • Meeting with stakeholders to gather and analyse requirements
  • Analysing workflows to create process maps and isolate areas of potential improvement
  • Developing functional specifications that design and document the desired outcome of system enhancement/development
  • Participating in User Acceptance Testing (UAT) to ensure the overall efficiency, functionality and user friendliness of system enhancement/development.
  • Monitoring major cases reported in supplier ticketing systems to ensure awareness among our teams on the status of critical issues
  • Working closely with relevant internal teams and supplier teams to help ensure issues are resolved in a timely manner
  • Preparing material and providing training and assistance to end-users during and following implementation
  • Working as a crucial component of a project team responsible for upgrading existing systems or implementing new systems
