Job summary

Calor Gas Ireland is seeking a professional HGV Tanker Driver to join our transport team. You will deliver LPG, LNG and other fuels to domestic, industrial and commercial customers, while maintaining safety, tachograph and regulatory compliance throughout shifts.

You will undertake pre- and post-shift vehicle checks, manage on-board systems, report incidents promptly and support training of fellow drivers, with flexibility for early/late starts and after-hours calls.

Qualifications

  • A minimum of 2 years HGV driving experience.
  • Hold a clean valid HGV licence for tanker size.
  • ADR Certificate in bulk gases (Packages and Tanks).
  • Driver CPC qualifications and Digital Tachograph Card.
  • Up to date CPC modules.
  • Experience in multi and single drop deliveries.
  • Manual handling & Working at Height certificates.
  • Health and Safety awareness essential.
  • Must be trained on Tachograph Regulations for driving times and breaks.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.
  • Knowledge of mechanics and digital logistics advantageous.
  • Good geography knowledge of Republic of Ireland.
  • LPG/LNG product knowledge advantageous.

Responsibilities

  • Carry out pre and post shift driver walk around vehicle H&S checks.
  • Deliver LPG, LNG and other fuels to domestic, industrial and commercial customers.
  • Drive safely and abide by highway code.
  • Deliver product using on-board computer system with accurate information.
  • Attend training and participate in regular assessments.
  • Refuel vehicles following or prior to shift per procedure.
  • Maintain cleanliness of vehicle including cab interior.
  • Report accidents, incidents and safety concerns immediately.
  • Complete Near Miss reporting as required.
  • Produce licences for inspection when requested.
  • Maintain and process daily administration and submit at end of shift.
  • Follow driver’s manual and training manual procedures.
  • Assist with training other drivers as required.
  • Work flexible schedule with possible after-hours calls.
  • Communicate clearly and effectively.
  • Complete minor yard duties as required.
  • Assist other drivers as a helper when required.
  • Comply with tachograph regs, driving times and breaks.
  • Flexibility for early starts (4:00) and late starts (18:00).
  • Operate technology in the trucks.
  • Deliver CX by upholding Calor values and accountability.
  • Prioritise health and safety for yourself and colleagues.
  • Log Health and Safety conversations as appropriate.
  • All other duties as directed by Transport Manager.

Job description

Duties will include
  • Carry out a pre and post shift driver walk around vehicle H&S check prior to departure from Depot.
  • Deliver LPG, LNG and other fuel types in line with Calor procedures on single or multi drop basis to domestic, industrial and commercial customers.
  • Drive in a safe and efficient manner and abiding by the rules of the highway code.
  • Deliver product using on board computer system recording accurate information.
  • Attend training and participate in regular assessments.
  • Refuel vehicles following or prior to shift and in line with the refuelling process.
  • Maintain cleanliness of vehicle including cab interior.
  • Reportaccidents, incidents, and safety concerns immediately in line with company procedures.
  • Complete all Near Miss reporting as required.
  • Produce licences for inspection when requested.
  • Maintain and process daily administration and submit at the end of the shift.
  • Follow procedures as laid out in the driver’s manual and the training manual.
  • Assist with training other drivers as required.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule with possible after-hours emergency calls.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively.
  • Complete minor yard duties as required.
  • Assist other drivers as a helper when required.
  • Work within the legal parameters of driver hours and working time directive legislation, being fully compliant with tachograph and break requirements.
  • Flexibility and availability for early and late start and finishing times, for example early starts can be from 4.00hrs and late starts can be from 18.00hrs.
  • Operation of all technology in the trucks.
  • To deliver excellence in customer experience (CX) by embodying Calor’s values and upholding the standards of accountability, seamless service, and curiosity.
  • Ensure that health and safety of yourself and your colleagues is a priority in everything that you do - log Health and Safety conversations, as appropriate focusing on either an ‘unsafe condition’ where we see something that could cause injury to a person or an ‘unsafe act’ which is something that someone does that can lead to injury.
  • All other duties as directed by the Transport Manager.
Experience Skills and Qualifications Required
Education requirement to complete this role

Minimum: Very good written and spoken English and a good standard of Maths.

Maths & English leaving cert or equivalent preferred.

  • A minimum of 2 years HGV driving experience
  • Hold a clean valid HGV driving licence appropriate to size of tanker(rigid/articulated)
  • ADR Certificate in bulk gases (Packages and Tanks).
  • Hold a Driver CPC qualifications and Digital Tachograph Card
  • Up to date CPC modules.
  • Previous relevant driving experience – multi and single drop
  • Hold valid Manual handling & Working at Height certificates.
  • Health and Safety, awareness and knowledge essential
  • Must be fully experienced trained on Tachograph Regulations in relation to driving times and breaks.
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Excellent customer services skills
  • Knowledge of Mechanics advantageous
  • Experience in Digital Logistics advantageous
  • Customer First Mindset: Prioritizes customer needs and ensures their concerns are addressed with empathy and care.
  • Good geographical knowledge of Republic of Ireland.
  • LPG / LNG product knowledge an advantage.
