Job summary

Calor Gas Ireland is seeking a professional HGV driver to join the transport team. You will deliver LPG and LNG to domestic, commercial and industrial customers, adhering to safety standards and using onboard systems to log deliveries.

You will participate in training, maintain vehicles, and support other drivers as needed. The role requires a clean HGV licence for tanker operation, ADR certification and CPC qualifications, with readiness for flexible hours and travel across Ireland.

Qualifications

• Very good written and spoken English and a good standard of Maths.
• Maths & English leaving cert or equivalent preferred.
• A minimum of 2 years HGV driving experience.
• Holding a clean valid HGV driving licence appropriate to tanker size.
• ADR Certificate in bulk gases (Packages and Tanks).
• Driver CPC qualifications and Digital Tachograph Card.
• Up to date CPC modules.
• Previous driving experience – multi and single drop.
• Manual handling & Working at Height certificates.
• Health and Safety knowledge is essential.
• Must be trained on Tachograph Regulations (driving times and breaks).
• Excellent communication skills and customer service.
• Geographical knowledge of Republic of Ireland.
• LPG/LNG product knowledge is an advantage.

Responsibilities

• Carry out pre and post shift driver walk around H&S check before departure.
• Deliver LPG, LNG and other fuels to domestic, industrial and commercial customers.
• Drive safely, obeying highway rules and using on board computer to record info.
• Attend training and participate in regular assessments.
• Refuel vehicles following the refuelling process and maintain cleanliness.
• Report accidents, incidents and safety concerns immediately.
• Complete Near Miss reporting as required and produce licences for inspection when needed.
• Maintain daily administration and submit at end of shift.
• Follow driver’s manuals and training manuals; assist with training other drivers.
• Work flexible hours, possibly after-hours emergencies; communicate clearly.
• Complete minor yard duties; assist other drivers as required.
• Adhere to tachograph rules and break times; manage early/late starts.
• Operate all technology in the trucks and uphold Calor CX standards.
• Prioritise health and safety for yourself and colleagues; log conversations as needed.
• Carry out all other duties as directed by the Transport Manager.

Job description

Duties will include

• Carry out a pre and post shift driver walk around vehicle H&S check prior to departure from Depot.
• Deliver LPG, LNG and other fuel types in line with Calor procedures on single or multi drop basis to domestic, industrial and commercial customers.
• Drive in a safe and efficient manner and abiding by the rules of the highway code.
• Deliver product using on board computer system recording accurate information.
• Attend training and participate in regular assessments.
• Refuel vehicles following or prior to shift and in line with the refuelling process.
• Maintain cleanliness of vehicle including cab interior.
• Reportaccidents, incidents, and safety concerns immediately in line with company procedures.
• Complete all Near Miss reporting as required.
• Produce licences for inspection when requested.
• Maintain and process daily administration and submit at the end of the shift.
• Follow procedures as laid out in the driver’s manual and the training manual.
• Assist with training other drivers as required.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule with possible after-hours emergency calls.
• Ability to communicate clearly and effectively.
• Complete minor yard duties as required.
• Assist other drivers as a helper when required.
• Work within the legal parameters of driver hours and working time directive legislation, being fully compliant with tachograph and break requirements.
• Flexibility and availability for early and late start and finishing times, for example early starts can be from 4.00hrs and late starts can be from 18.00hrs.
• Operation of all technology in the trucks.

• Ensure that health and safety of yourself and your colleagues is a priority in everything that you do - log Health and Safety conversations, as appropriate focusing on either an ‘unsafe condition’ where we see something that could cause injury to a person or an ‘unsafe act’ which is something that someone does that can lead to injury.
• All other duties as directed by the Transport Manager.

Experience Skills and Qualifications Required

Education requirement to complete this role

Minimum: Very good written and spoken English and a good standard of Maths.

Maths & English leaving cert or equivalent preferred.

• A minimum of 2 years HGV driving experience
• Hold a clean valid HGV driving licence appropriate to size of tanker(rigid/articulated)
• ADR Certificate in bulk gases (Packages and Tanks).
• Hold a Driver CPC qualifications and Digital Tachograph Card
• Up to date CPC modules.
• Previous relevant driving experience – multi and single drop
• Hold valid Manual handling & Working at Height certificates.
• Health and Safety, awareness and knowledge essential
• Must be fully experienced trained on Tachograph Regulations in relation to driving times and breaks.
• Excellent communication skills

• Knowledge of Mechanics advantageous
• Experience in Digital Logistics advantageous
