Job summary

Sigmar Recruitment is assisting a leading Ireland-based main contractor to recruit a Building Services Engineer for a €100 million residential project in Dublin. You will ensure HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and fire safety systems meet specifications and programme, while leading engineers and coordinating subcontractors on site.

The ideal candidate will have building services experience with an M&E contractor or main contractor, with strong mechanical or electrical knowledge and proven leadership

Qualifications

• Background in building services with M&E contractor, main contractor, or building services consultancy.
• Strong knowledge of either mechanical or electrical building services.
• Experience leading engineers and coordinating subcontractors.

Responsibilities

• Monitor progress of technical services contractors and run regular progress meetings.
• Review design progress with design team and resolve design/quality issues.
• Ensure benchmarking and quality control processes are implemented.
• Attend weekly team meetings to report on installation status.
• Attend monthly operations meetings with the project manager.
• Participate in client project meetings alongside the project manager.
• Provide technical support to construction manager for site installation management.
• Conduct regular site inspections and issue corrective actions as needed.
• Oversee preparation of operation and maintenance manuals and As-Built information.
• Develop commissioning programs with contractors and planners.
• Lead commissioning process and track schedules for witnessing.
• Coordinate technical services design team and building control inspections.
• Monitor document control flow and highlight risks to project manager.
• Assist with practical completion, snagging, commissioning, and obtaining O&M manuals.

About Your New Employer

One of Ireland's leading main contractors who have a large portfolio of work in the Dublin area for the next couple of years, mainly in the residential sector with a couple of €100 million euro projects about to come on stream. They have a number of commercial, industrial and data centre projects in Ireland and abroad. They are looking to add to their Building Services Team and are appointing a Building Services Engineer to one of their €100 million residential projects.

About Your New Job

As the Building Services Engineer, you will be responsible for ensuring that all building systems, including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and fire safety, are installed as per spec and programme. You will lead a team of engineers and manage sub contractors, working closely with engineers and architects.

Key Responsibilities:

• Monitor the performance of technical services contractors and hold regular progress meetings with trade contractors.
• Review design progress, liaise with the design team, and identify and resolve issues related to design and construction quality and progress.
• Ensure the implementation of benchmarking and quality control processes.
• Attend weekly team meetings to report on the status of technical services installation.
• Attend monthly meetings with the project manager to contribute to the monthly operations report.
• Participate in client project meetings alongside the project manager.
• Provide technical support to the construction manager for site installation management.
• Conduct regular site inspections of installations and issue corrective actions as needed.
• Oversee the request, development, and issuance of operation and maintenance manuals and 'As Built' information from trade contractors.
• Develop specialist and commissioning programs in collaboration with trade contractors, planners, and construction managers.
• Lead the commissioning process, complete tracking schedules, and agree on schedules for witnessing.
• Coordinate technical services design team and building control inspections.
• Monitor the document control system with the design manager, tracking information flow against the program and highlighting risks to the project manager.
• Assist with practical completion, coordinate technical support for snagging and de-snagging processes, manage and witness commissioning, confirm work completion, arrange final inspections, and obtain O&M manuals and 'As Built' information.

What you need

The ideal candidate will have a background in building services, working for an M&E Contractor, Main Contractor or Building Services Consultancy. The client are open to backgrounds but candidates will need a strong knowledge of either mechanical or electrical building services.

What's on offer

Successful applicants will receive a starting salary of up to €75000 which will be paid monthly.
