Job summary

Alexion Pharmaceuticals, Inc. in Athlone, Ireland, is hiring a Manufacturing Shift Lead to supervise a team of Bioprocess Technicians in a 24/7 operation.

You will ensure safe, compliant production across upstream and downstream processing, drive continuous improvement, and deliver clear shift handovers to site leadership.

The role requires hands-on leadership in a cGMP biologics environment, strong documentation practices, and collaboration with QA, Engineering and Technical Services.

Qualifications

• Experience in a cGMP-regulated biologics manufacturing environment.
• Hands-on experience across upstream and downstream biologics processes.
• Ability to translate processes into controlled documents (SOPs, batch records).
• Knowledge of Grade C/D environments and contamination control.
• Strong understanding of cGMP, regulatory requirements and data integrity.
• Ability to work independently and make sound operational decisions.
• Clear shift handovers and accurate documentation skills.
• Experience using SAP, TrackWise or similar systems.

Responsibilities

• Lead safe, compliant shift operations and meet the approved schedule.
• Coordinate shift priorities, organize resources, and communicate between shifts.
• Oversee activities across upstream and downstream processing.
• Make shift-level decisions and escalate issues as needed.
• Deliver clear shift handovers and updates to site leadership.
