Job summary

AstraZeneca in Dublin seeks an experienced senior operations leader to direct end-to-end biologics drug substance manufacturing, ensuring safety, quality and reliability. You will guide upstream/downstream operations to release products, lead continuous improvement, and champion digital tools for value, while upholding regulatory scrutiny.

You will set a clear vision, inspire teams, and deliver outcomes across a complex portfolio in a fast-paced, highly compliant environment.

Qualifications

• Experience: 12+ years in pharmaceutical or biopharmaceutical manufacturing operations, quality, and/or technical services.
• Operational resilience with ability to manage risk, quality and compliance at the highest standards.
• People leadership with strong motivational, communication, and negotiation skills.
• Digital and AI acumen; able to mentor teams in adopting new technologies.
• Change management experience in dynamic, fast-paced environments.
• Deep knowledge of global GMP and regulatory requirements for drug substance facilities.
• Undergraduate degree in Science or Engineering.

Responsibilities

• Establish and sustain robust, high-reliability manufacturing processes with contingency readiness.
• Evaluate and implement digital/AI solutions to improve yield, throughput and maintenance.
• Build and retain a first-class manufacturing organization with a safety-first culture.
• Orchestrate cross-functional collaboration across EHS, QA, Engineering, and Supply Chain.
• Lead organizational change and ensure adoption across the site and broader business.
• Own production performance metrics; manage capacity and cycle times to drive efficiency.
• Lead regulatory inspections, submissions, tech transfers, and new product introductions.
