Job summary

Amazon.com seeks an MEP BIM Designer to design Mechanical and Fire Protection systems for data centers, using Revit to build and maintain BIM models. You will collaborate with internal teams and external consultants, ensuring models meet AWS standards and EIR, while delivering construction documentation in a fast-paced environment.

Based in Ireland with potential domestic and international travel, you will contribute to multiple location projects, develop BIM templates, and support information

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
• Knowledge of critical data center mechanical and electrical equipment.
• Experience with the design, construction, operation, or maintenance of mission critical facilities, especially data centers.
• Proven experience with Revit and AutoCAD.

Responsibilities

• Design the Mechanical and Fire Protection systems for Data Centers and use Revit to create and maintain BIM models.
• Collaborate with internal groups and external consultants to accomplish tasks.
• Prepare and develop detailed Revit models of Mechanical and Fire Protection systems.
• Develop and publish construction documentation for Mechanical and Fire Protection designs to meet schedules.
• Create and maintain BIM templates and enforce BIM standards.
• Review consultant models to ensure they meet AWS standards and EIR requirements.
• Work on concurrent projects across multiple locations.
• Support information exchange processes with internal and external customers.
• Record and report key metrics to management.
• Propose creative, out-of-the-box solutions.

Working within the team, you will depend on others to accomplish the required work such as internal groups as well as external suppliers and consultants including utilities, manufacturers, vendors, and contractors.

Key job responsibilities

Daily responsibilities will include designing the Mechanical and Fire Protection systems of Data Centers, and utilizing Revit to create and maintain BIM models. You should be able to work with support and guidance within a team environment accomplish assigned tasks. This includes working with internal groups as well as external suppliers and consultants.

• Be self-motivated and work within the MEP group as well as within other teams.
• Support in preparing and developing detailed Revit models of Mechanical and Fire Protection building systems.
• Developing & publishing construction documentation for Mechanical and Fire Protection building systems designs in a fast-paced environment to meet scheduled deliverables.
• Assist with creating and maintaining BIM templates and enforce BIM standards.
• Reviewing consultants Mechanical and Fire Protection models, Ensuring Information Models meet AWS standards and are following the Exchange Information Requirements (EIR).
• Work on concurrent projects in multiple geographical locations.
• Assist the project team with information exchange processes between internal and external customers.
• Recording and reporting of key metrics to management.
• Be positive and always offer creative, out of the box solutions.

A day in the life

As a BIM Designer, you will collaborate across disciplines and teams to refine data center designs. Your work includes creating detailed models, drawings, prototypes, and updating managers and leaders of changes to the building design. You engage in design discussions, review feedback from peers and collaborators, and adjust designs to ensure our data center solutions meet the highest standards of efficiency and quality.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

• ​Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field
• Knowledge of critical data center mechanical and electrical equipment
• Experience with the design, construction, operation, or maintenance of mission critical facilities, especially data centers
• Proven Experience with Revit and AutoCAD

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Knowledge of building codes and regulations for your region
• Knowledge of commercial or industrial power systems or mechanical systems
• Experience carrying design concepts through exploration, development, and into deployment or mass production
• Experience using a variety of web-based and other software tools for calculation and data processing
• Experience in Design/Construction using Autodesk Revit to design and coordinate large, complex, or innovative projects
