Job description

Job ID: 10569108 | Amazon Development Centre Ireland Limited

AWS Infrastructure Services owns the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. In other words, we're the people who keep the cloud running. We support all AWS data centers and all of the servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling equipment that ensure our customers have continual access to the innovation they rely on. We work on the most challenging problems, with thousands of variables impacting the supply chain - and we're looking for talented people who want to help.

You'll join a diverse team of software, hardware, and network engineers, supply chain specialists, security experts, operations managers, and other vital roles. You'll collaborate with people across AWS to help us deliver the highest standards for safety and security while providing seemingly infinite capacity at the lowest possible cost for our customers. And you'll experience an inclusive culture that welcomes bold ideas and empowers you to own them to completion.

As part of this role you will be a part of highly creative and efficient CSA BIM team tasked with tackling the most fascinating and challenging problems in designing, constructing, and operating Amazon owned Data Center facilities globally.

Key job responsibilities

Daily responsibilities will include designing the Structural systems for our data centers, utilizing Revit to create and maintain BIM models. You must be able to work independently with occasional guidance, and work within a team environment to accomplish assigned tasks. This includes working with internal groups, as well as external suppliers, consultants, manufacturers, vendors, and contractors.

  • Being self-motivated to work within the BIM Designer group and across other teams.
  • Preparing and developing detailed Structural Revit models.
  • Developing and publishing construction documentation for Structural building system designs in a fast-paced environment to meet scheduled deliverables.
  • Creating and maintaining regional and global libraries, including Revit Families, Details, and Detail Components.
  • Updating and modifying existing models, studies, and construction documents, as required.

  • Participating in design coordination meetings with other trades for clash detection and resolution.
  • Working on concurrent projects in multiple geographic locations.
  • Assisting information exchange processes between internal and external customers in a Common Data Environment (CDE).
  • Recording and reporting key metrics to management.
  • Traveling to data center sites for engineering evaluations and surveys, as required. On average: once or twice a year.
  • Being positive and always offering creative, out-of-the-box solutions.
  • Having fun and working hard!

A day in the life: Our BIM Designers create / maintain AWS ACS templates. They partner with consultants on projects, guiding and overseeing processes to produce CD deliverables. They ensure the ACS consultants adhere to AWS BIM standards. As part of this team you will carry out ACS documents reviews on in flight projects to ensure the highest standard is delivered and working with the wider AWS ACS teams to discuss process improvements, document standards, innovations and project obstacles. Our BIM Designers are capable of working with minimal oversight, have excellent communication skills, attention to detail, and maintain high working standards. Flexible to design changes, able to adapt to fast-paced drawing execution requirements, our BIM Designers define problems and dive deep on ambiguous design requests. The role will require you to work with a Global mindset as your work will cross between Global regions.

About the team: You will work with our internal BIM Design Services Team, Internal Design Engineering teams and external consultants to innovate and drive standards during the design stage of projects, leveraging all aspects of the Model capability to help consultants deliver efficient coordinated designs to IFC stage.
