Job summary

Thermo King Galway, part of Trane Technologies, invites engineering students to join a hands-on software testing placement from January to August and/or May to January. You will support the Connected Solutions Telematics firmware group, applying Python, Java, and Playwright to automate testing in a Linux environment.

Based in Galway, this on-site role provides mentorship from experienced engineers and exposure to cutting-edge telematics technology on real-world projects.

Qualifications

• Completion of at least 2 years of their course is required.
• Proficiency in Python and Linux environments is expected.
• Familiarity with Git and debugging tools.
• Knowledge of MS SQL is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Write Python and Robot Framework code to extend automated tests.
• Run scripted tests to understand and guide automated tests.
• Support the test team in identifying tests based on Zephyr test cases.
• Adhere to software development standards and processes.

Where Is The Work

On-Site (5 days)

ENGINEERING STUDENT PLACEMENTS AT THERMO KING GALWAY

Thermo King currently has an opportunity for a Software Engineering student to complete placement from January to August and/or May to January. Candidates should have completed at least 2 years of their course to be considered for these positions.

The successful candidates will provide support to the ThermoKing Connected Solutions Telematics firmware group. This role will focus on using Java and Playright to automate the testing of Software Applications. This role will be based in the Connected Solutions office on the ThermoKing campus in Galway.

Core Responsibilities

• Write python and Robot-Framework code to extend our automated tests.
• Run scripted tests as an aid to understanding what automated tests need to do.
• Support the test team in identifying tests to work on based on existing Zephyr test cases.
• Adhere to our software development standards and processes.

Key Competencies

• Python programming skills/experience
• Comfortable programming in a Linux environment
• Familiarity with version control systems like Git and debugging tools.
• MS SQL familiarity
• Nice to have:
• Bluetooth experience
• Familiarity with reading Jave & Javascript
