Job summary

Amicus Search & Recruitment represents a leading firm in Kilkenny seeking an Audit and Accounts Assistant Manager to join the growing regional practice.

You will manage a diverse portfolio of audit and accounts assignments, supervise junior staff, and act as a primary contact for clients, reporting to the Audit and Accounts Manager with direct partner access.

Qualifications

• Professionally qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, or equivalent).
• Two to four years of post-qualification or relevant practice experience specifically across audit and accounts.
• Strong understanding of financial reporting standards and current auditing standards.
• Proven experience supervising or mentoring junior staff on live engagements.
• High confidence dealing with clients directly, backed by strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Highly organised, with the ability to effectively prioritise across multiple live assignments.
• A genuine appetite for professional development—both your own and that of the people around you.

Responsibilities

• Plan, execute, and finalise audit and accounts assignments across a varied portfolio of clients, including family businesses, owner-managed companies, and not-for-profit organisations.
• Build direct working relationships with clients, becoming a reliable, go-to contact for day-to-day business matters.
• Supervise trainee and qualified staff on engagements, reviewing workflows and providing proactive, on-the-job coaching.
• Manage your own timeline and the time of your team across multiple assignments to meet budgets and deadlines.
• Assist managers and partners in delivering technical advice to clients, collaborating with the wider specialist teams when needed.
• Take an active role in your own technical development and champion the career progression of the trainees around you.
• Contribute to internal initiatives that refine how the team operates and works together.
