The Opportunity

A leading multidisciplinary consultancy is seeking an experienced Associate Director – Mine Water & Water Resources to join its growing technical team.

This senior leadership role offers the opportunity to provide strategic and technical direction across complex mine water, hydrology and water resources projects. You will work across the mining lifecycle, supporting feasibility, environmental assessment, permitting, detailed design and operational projects across multiple jurisdictions.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide strategic leadership across a portfolio of complex mine water and water resources projects.
• Act as a technical authority in mine water management, hydrology and water resources.
• Lead conceptual site models, water balances, flood risk assessments and hydraulic/hydrological studies.
• Develop water management strategies, engineering solutions and climate resilience measures.
• Direct multidisciplinary teams across feasibility, consenting, design and operational support.
• Build strong relationships with clients and act as a trusted technical advisor.
• Lead bids, tenders and major proposals, supporting business development and growth.
• Take responsibility for project governance, budgets, resources, programmes, quality and risk.
• Mentor and develop technical staff, supporting recruitment and succession planning.
• Collaborate with international technical specialists to deliver innovative and sustainable solutions.
• Represent the business at industry events, conferences and professional forums.

About You

• Significant experience in mine water management, hydrology, water resources or water engineering.
• Experience within mining, infrastructure or environmental consultancy is highly desirable.
• Proven track record delivering complex projects and leading multidisciplinary teams.
• Strong knowledge of hydrological/hydraulic assessment, water balance modelling, flood risk and water management infrastructure.
• Experience supporting mining projects through feasibility, EIA, permitting, design and operational phases.
• Strong commercial, project management and business development skills.
• Excellent client, stakeholder and communication abilities.
• Experience with hydraulic, hydrological or water resources modelling software.
• Chartered Engineer, Chartered Hydrologist or equivalent professional qualification.
