Job summary

Gaia Talent is helping a leading multidisciplinary environmental consultancy in Ireland to hire a Hydrogeologist for its Ground and Water team. The role offers hands-on project work across contaminated land, groundwater resources, dewatering and geothermal applications.

You will contribute to conceptual hydrogeological models, data interpretation, risk assessments and technical reporting, collaborating with senior hydrogeologists and project managers across Ireland and the wider UK market.

Qualifications

• Postgraduate qualification such as MSc, MTech or PhD in Hydrogeology.
• Experience managing hydrogeological data and developing evidence-based conceptual models.
• Experience in environmental consultancy and reporting on hydrogeology projects.

Responsibilities

• Manage and interpret hydrogeological and geological datasets.
• Develop conceptual hydrogeological models and source-pathway-receptor linkages.
• Support hydrogeological risk assessments and detailed quantitative risk assessments.
• Undertake contaminant hydrogeology and groundwater investigations.
• Contribute to projects involving dewatering, pumping and yield tests, groundwater resources, abstraction and geothermal systems.
• Support hydrogeological modelling and technical assessments.
• Develop technical skills in industry-standard software such as ConSim, LandSim, P20, FEFLOW, MODFLOW and SEEP/W.
• Undertake project tasks under the direction of senior hydrogeologists and project managers.
• Prepare factual and interpretive technical reports.
• Work collaboratively with project managers, directors, engineers and environmental specialists.
• Support delivery of projects to agreed technical, commercial and quality standards.

The Opportunity

A leading multidisciplinary environmental consultancy is seeking a Hydrogeologist to join its growing Ground and Water team in Ireland.

This is an excellent opportunity for a hydrogeologist looking to develop their technical expertise through hands-on project work, supported by experienced specialists and senior professionals. The role will involve projects across contaminated land, landfill, groundwater resources, dewatering, abstraction and geothermal applications.

You will contribute to the development of conceptual hydrogeological models, interpretation of geological and groundwater data, risk assessments and technical reporting.

About You

• Postgraduate qualification such as MSc, MTech or PhD in Hydrogeology or a related discipline.
• Experience managing hydrogeological data and developing evidence-based conceptual models.
• Experience preparing factual and interpretive hydrogeological reports.
• Experience in environmental consultancy, contaminant hydrogeology or a relevant industrial/regulatory environment.
• Knowledge of hydrogeological risk assessment and modelling, particularly ConSim, RTM or LandSim.
• Strong analytical, technical writing and communication skills.
• Motivated team player with a collaborative approach.
• Interested in working towards Chartered status.
