Job summary

Sheridans Cheesemongers Ltd. is seeking an enthusiastic Assistant Team Leader to oversee the Shop, Cafe and Wine Bar in The Old Forge, Carnaross, Kells. You will work closely with the General Manager and Team Leader to run the location and support daily operations on-site.

The role focuses on delivering outstanding customer experiences, staff supervision, and maintaining high standards across venues with flexibility for weekends and evenings.

Responsibilities

• Lead and support the team across the Shop, Cafe and Wine Bar.
• Take responsibility for the location when the General Manager and Team Leader are absent.
• Allocate daily tasks, manage breaks and ensure the team is working effectively.
• Deliver excellent customer service and support the team in handling customer queries and complaints.
• Maintain high standards of presentation, cleanliness, food safety and service.
• Support sales, KPIs, promotions, tastings and events.
• Monitor stock, ordering, deliveries, rotation and wastage.
• Support training and development of team members.
• Ensure HACCP, health & safety and alcohol service procedures are followed.
• Identify opportunities to improve processes, efficiency and the customer experience.
• Communicate operational issues and improvement ideas to the General Manager.
• Be a positive, hands-on leader who is happy to get involved wherever needed.

Assistant Team Leader - Shop, Cafe & Wine Bar

Location: The Old Forge, Carnaross, Kells Co. Meath

Hours: 32 hours per week

Pay: €15.50 per hour, increasing to €16.00 per hour on Sundays

About The Role

We are looking for an enthusiastic and experienced Assistant Team Leader to join our team and play a key role across our Shop, Cafe and Wine Bar. This is a hands-on leadership position for someone who enjoys working with people, delivering excellent customer experiences and ensuring the day-to-day operation runs smoothly. Working closely with the General Manager and Team Leader, you will help lead the team and oversee the daily operation of the location. A key part of the role will be taking responsibility for running the location when the General Manager and Team Leader are not present. As the senior person on site, you will ensure the team is supported, customers are well looked after, and standards are consistently maintained across the Shop, Cafe and Wine Bar. The role requires flexibility, including availability to work some weekends and evenings.

About You

• Has previous experience in a supervisory or team leadership role, ideally in hospitality, retail or a similar customer-focused environment.


• Is confident leading a team and taking responsibility.


• Has excellent customer service and communication skills.


• Is organised, reliable and able to stay calm during busy periods.


• Takes initiative and is comfortable making decisions.


• Has a practical, solutions-focused approach.


• Enjoys working as part of a team and leading by example.


• A genuine passion for food, artisan produce, wine and hospitality, with the enthusiasm to develop strong product knowledge and share that passion with teams and customers.


• Is flexible and happy to work across the Shop, Cafe and Wine Bar including weekends and nights.
