Sheridans Cheesemongers Ltd. is seeking an Assistant Team Leader to join our Cornelscourt counter. You will support the Team Leader in daily operations, lead Cheesemongers during shifts, and help maintain top-quality service and food safety.

The role focuses on developing leadership skills, enhancing product knowledge of Irish and European cheeses, and delivering exceptional customer experiences on busy trading days. Training is provided on the job.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years' experience in food retail.
• At least 1 year of supervisory or leadership experience.
• Strong interest in artisan and specialty foods, particularly Irish and European cheeses.
• HACCP training and commitment to food safety standards.
• Exceptional customer service and communication skills.

Responsabilités

• Support the Team Leader in overseeing daily operations of the counter.
• Lead and guide team members during shifts, including task allocation and monitoring performance.
• Foster a positive team culture with strong morale and collaboration.
• Assist in stock control, placing and receiving orders, and resolving stock-related queries.
• Maintain high standards of cleanliness and food safety in line with HACCP guidelines.
• Support customer engagement through tastings, supplier visits, and in-store promotions.
• Handle queries, complaints, special requests, and returns with professionalism.
• Monitor product quality and liaise with suppliers and internal teams as needed.
• Coordinate with Retail Management and host store management to ensure smooth operations.

We are currently seeking a Assistant Team Leader to join our counter team in Cornelscourt. This is an exciting opportunity for someone with a passion for artisan food, excellent customer service skills, and leadership potential. The successful candidate will work closely with the Team Leader to support the smooth day-to-day running of the counter, particularly during our busiest trading days.

This position is ideal for someone who is keen to develop their knowledge of Irish and European food production and culture. Full training is provided through a combination of in-house learning and hands-on experience.

Key Responsibilities

• Support the Team Leader in overseeing daily operations of the counter.
• Lead and guide team members (Cheesemongers) during shifts, including task allocation, managing breaks, and monitoring performance.
• Help foster a positive team culture with strong morale, mutual respect, and outstanding collaboration.
• Assist in stock control, placing and receiving orders, and resolving stock-related queries.
• Maintain high standards of cleanliness and food safety in compliance with HACCP guidelines.
• Support customer engagement through tastings, supplier visits, and in-store promotions.
• Provide exceptional customer service-handling queries, complaints, special requests, and returns.
• Monitor and address product quality issues, liaising with suppliers and internal departments as needed.
• Coordinate with the Retail Management Team, Team Leaders in other locations, and the host store management.
• Carry out other duties as required to ensure the smooth and effective operation of the counter.

• Reports to: Team Leader, Area Manager
• Supervises: Cheesemongers

• Availability to work weekends and flexibility to work 5 days per week.
