Job summary

Blue Forge Recruitment is partnering with a leading Irish supermarket group to recruit an Assistant Store Manager for their Cork stores. The role involves overseeing daily operations, leading a store team, and delivering excellent customer service while ensuring stock, cash handling, and merchandising standards are met.

The successful candidate will have 2–3 years in retail management or a customer-focused environment, be able to work in a fast-paced setting, and adapt to flexible shifts

Qualifications

• Previous supervisory or team-leadership experience is necessary.
• Strong customer service and communication skills.
• Good organisational and time-management skills.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities.
• Commercial awareness and a focus on achieving sales targets.
• Good attention to detail, particularly with stock, cash, and store standards.
• Flexible approach to working hours, including evenings, weekends, and public holidays when required.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Store Manager with the overall management and daily running of the store.
• Lead, motivate, and support the store team to achieve sales and customer service targets.
• Deliver excellent customer service and handle customer queries or complaints professionally.
• Support staff training, onboarding, coaching, and performance development.
• Monitor sales performance and work with the team to achieve and exceed targets.
• Manage stock deliveries, replenishment, stock checks, and inventory control.
• Follow company policies and procedures, including health and safety and security requirements.
• Assist with cash handling, till operations, banking, and end-of-day procedures.
• Support promotional activities, merchandising, and product displays.

Our client is looking for candidate with strong background in supervising a busy retail, supermarket or convenience store by working alongside the senior management team. The store is situated on a great commuter belt, easily accessible with public transport and only a 20 minutes' drive from Blackpool, Cork City and only a 30 mins drive from Macroom, Midleton, Kinsale and surrounding areas. This is an ideal role for someone who has the knowledge of maintaining effective stock levels, minimising waste, and developing positive and professional relationships with suppliers. The role also involves delivering excellent customer service, supporting and motivating the store team, and ensuring the store operates efficiently at all times. In the absence of the Duty Manager will take responsibility for the store, providing effective leadership and ensuring all daily operations run smoothly, support the team in achieving sales targets and business objectives, while maintaining high standards and operational efficiency.
