Job summary

Sigmar Recruitment is seeking an Assistant Production Manager for a food manufacturing site in Ireland. You will support the Production Manager in overseeing daily operations, ensuring production targets are met safely, efficiently and to high quality standards.

You will lead the production team, coordinate the daily plan, maintain GMP/HACCP compliance, train supervisors and operators, and work with Quality to drive continuous improvement and waste reduction while keeping production running

Qualifications

• Experience in production or manufacturing, preferably in food.
• Proven experience leading production teams in a busy environment.
• Strong understanding of GMP, HACCP, and food safety standards.
• Strong organisational and problem-solving abilities.
• Clear communication across departments.
• Hands-on, proactive approach with attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Support and lead the production team, acting as deputy to the Production Manager when required.
• Coordinate the daily production plan, ensuring effective use of people, equipment and resources.
• Ensure compliance with quality systems, GMP, HACCP, hygiene and Health & Safety procedures.
• Monitor production to ensure products meet specifications, packing requirements, SOPs and customer standards.
• Train, mentor and develop supervisors, line leaders and operators.
• Review and update SOPs to support safe, consistent working practices.
• Follow up on actions arising from audits and customer complaints, working with Quality to implement improvements.
• Identify opportunities to reduce waste, improve efficiency and use resources more effectively.
• Support stock counts and improvements to stock control procedures.
• Liaise with Planning, Quality and Maintenance to resolve issues and keep production running smoothly.
