Job summary

Excel Recruitment is seeking an experienced Assistant Manager to join a busy grocery retailer in Maynooth. The role offers a salary of EUR40,000 - EUR45,000 per annum and the opportunity to take on greater responsibility within a fast-paced store.

You will support the Store Manager, lead the store team, oversee stock and merchandising, and help with rostering and staff training while maintaining excellent customer service and store standards.

Qualifications

• Experience as Assistant Manager or senior supervisor in grocery/retail.
• Ability to lead and develop a store team.
• Strong organisational and stock control skills.
• Comfortable in a busy, high-volume environment.

Responsibilities

• Support the Store Manager with day-to-day operations.
• Lead, motivate and develop the store team.
• Manage stock levels, merchandising and availability.
• Assist with ordering, rosters and staff training.
• Oversee opening and closing procedures.
• Maintain excellent customer service and store standards.
• Ensure food safety and health & safety standards are followed.
• Take responsibility for the store in the Store Manager’s absence.

The Role:

• Support the Store Manager with the day-to-day running of the store


• Lead, motivate and develop the store team


• Manage stock levels, merchandising and availability


• Assist with ordering, rosters and staff training


• Oversee opening and closing procedures


• Maintain excellent customer service and store standards


• Ensure company procedures, food safety and health & safety standards are followed


• Take full responsibility for the store in the Store Manager’s absence

The Ideal Candidate:

• Previous Assistant Manager, Duty Manager or senior supervisory experience


• Grocery or convenience retail experience highly desirable


• Strong leadership and people management skills


• Commercially aware with a hands-on approach


• Confident working in a busy, high-volume retail environment


• Ambitious and keen to progress within retail management
