Job summary

Excel Recruitment is hiring an Assistant Manager for a busy Dublin South supermarket. You will support the Store Manager, lead the team and uphold top standards across the store, driving customer service and sales.

The role requires previous retail supervisory experience, strong leadership, and excellent organisational skills to manage daily operations, staff rostering, stock control, and compliance with food safety and health & safety policies.

Qualifications

Assistant Manager – Supermarket – Dublin South

Excel Recruitment is currently recruiting an Assistant Manager for our client’s supermarket in South Dublin. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced retail professional looking to progress their management career within a fast-paced supermarket environment. The successful candidate will work closely with the Store Manager, supporting daily operations while leading the team and driving excellent standards across the store.

Responsibilities

• Support the Store Manager with the day-to-day running of the supermarket, ensuring smooth and efficient operations across all departments
• Lead, motivate, and develop the store team to deliver excellent customer service and consistently high retail standards
• Monitor sales performance, stock availability, merchandising, and department standards to support store targets
• Assist with staff rostering, training, performance management, and ensuring appropriate staffing levels throughout the store
• Support stock control, ordering, waste management, and cost control to maximise sales and profitability
• Ensure full compliance with company procedures, food safety, health & safety, cash handling, and security requirements

Requirements

• Previous experience as an Assistant Manager, Trainee Manager, Duty Manager, or experienced Supervisor within a supermarket or grocery retail environment
• Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate, coach, and develop a busy retail team
• Good commercial awareness with an understanding of sales, margins, stock control, waste, and labour costs
• Excellent organisational, communication, and problem-solving skills
• Customer-focused and hands‑on management style with a commitment to maintaining high store standards
• Flexible approach with the ability to work effectively in a busy, fast‑paced supermarket environment
