Job summary

The Rehab Group is seeking an Assistant Instructor for the Rehabilitative Training Programme in Mullingar, Co. Westmeath. The role involves delivering tailored training for learners with varying needs including ID, ASD, and other challenges, under a person-centred approach in a supportive environment.

The post is a fixed-term contract for 12 months, full-time (36 hours per week), with opportunities for progression within a structured salary scale and a comprehensive benefits package.

Qualifications

  • Education and Training to 3rd level standard as stated in the job ad.
  • Training qualification such as Train the Trainer is required.
  • Experience in a specialised training environment is expected.
  • Experience with intellectual disabilities and ASD is required.
  • Experience of key working with a person-centred approach is expected.

Responsibilities

  • Work with the Lead Instructor to develop and deliver the RT programme with competence and innovation.
  • Liaise with stakeholders to create vocational and community opportunities for learners.
  • Provide systematic training according to curricula and maintain training records.
  • Assist in one-to-one key work and develop Individual Action Plans.
  • Evaluate rehabilitative and vocational needs and profile learner requirements.
  • Support individuals of mixed abilities in classroom and other environments.

Education

Education and Training to 3rd level standard; e., Youth and Community Work, teaching, adult education.
Specific training qualification: Train the Trainer
Experience of working in a specialised training environment
Experience of working with people with intellectual disabilities and ASD

Assistant Instructor

Job Purpose

The Rehabilitative Training Programme aims to equip the learner with skills to develop personally, socially and vocationally in making future choices and progress to greater levels of independence and integration. The Assistant Instructor will work with the RehabilitativeTraining Programme which requires experience of working with people of varying needs and abilities - I.D., ASD, autism, physical and sensory difficulties, behavioural difficulties, mentalhealth difficulties.

What we're looking for:
  • Education and Training to 3rd level standard; e., Youth and Community Work, teaching, adult education.
  • Specific training qualification: e.g., Train the Trainer, at minimum.
  • Experience of working in a specialised training environment.
  • Experience of working with people with intellectual disabilities and ASD.
  • Experience of key working which reflects a person-centred model.
Your Responsibilities
  • Working with the Lead Instructor to undertake the development and delivery of the RT programme with competence and carry outduties withinnovation, flair, imagination in a person-centred training environment.
  • As part of a team, liaise appropriately with relevant stakeholders in developing vocational and community-based opportunities for learners. Support learners in their community engagement and assist them in exploring future goals using a range of occupational interests, educational and problem-solving techniques.
  • Provide systematic training according to specified curricula; maintain all records required for effective monitoring of the learners’ progress; maintain records of all training in accordance with both internal and external quality standards and produce reports on same, as required.
  • Assist Lead Instructor to carry out one-to-one key work; assist in the learner’s developing his/her Individual Action Plans, thus supporting the process regarding his/her ownpersonal choices, according to New Directions and Training Programme Specification.
  • Assist Lead Instructor to evaluate the rehabilitative and vocational needs of each leaner and produce a profile of those needs.
  • To support and assist individuals of mixed abilities, behaviours and varying needs (i.e., ASD, physical, sensory issues, mental health difficulties) both in classroom and other environments.

Salary starting from point 1 €27,641.52 to point 5 €31,721.41. The 9-point salary scale provides annual progression opportunities up to €36,186.19.
